29/09/2015 - $303.30 - Lakin Number Plate Brackets and Covers

Number plate brackets arrived on the 29th, the same day I had the car registered in NSW and the same day I picked up the new number plates.

The brackets can be found here at LAKIN Custom Plate Brackets

I used the contact form and just told them what I was after.

Phillip the owner gave me a call and we went through exactly what I wanted, he was extremely friendly and helpful, I told him that I would be using the dealer drilled front holes to mount the front plate bracket but one day might change the front so he suggested adding to the order, customer drilled low points that sticky dots can be added to, this then allows you to mount the bracket without using screws.

Install was very easy, the brackets are manufactured to your specific vehicle so the rubber pads touch evenly against the paint to stop movement.

Because they are the best, because they protect your custom plates, they dont move around or bounce when you shut the boot, they dont scratch your paint, they are sealed, they have hex key screws to make it a little bit harder to seal your plates...

Not for everyone obviously.

I suppose if someone is wanting to steal my plates that bad, i'd rather they take them off without damaging the car/paint. Lol

I only had rattling issues back in the days when having a 12" sub in the boot was cool and hip.

yeah i wanted these plate frames but thought hmm the price doesnt seem to justify whats supplied.

Since then I've mangled my front number plate as on a few ocasions when removing the car cover the cover got caught on the cover and I've bent it outwards... should just bought these mounts/covers

Nice car mate, what do you have planned?

Totally worth it, they are specially curved to fit the line of the bumper, are secured to the car via the stock bolt holes and all the features OP mentioned. Great investment if you have custom plate you want to keep in mint condition

That's a good point, I guess we all just hope no one tries anything on our cars.

A guy at my office has an e46 m3 and it was badged a while back during the day in our car park, with cameras around! I don't know why anyone would bother.

Well I paid a bit extra for the stick on pad duvets, so they aren't always 300.

But for a me, 150 to protect a number plate as well as a body panel from regular damage seems ok.

As for plans, I've got the gloss black kidney and some halo LEDs, just the standard stuff.

I need to let me bank account even out again haha, so I'll wait before doing anything else for now.

I'm keen for naynay's iPE but I just don't have 3k to drop at the moment.

Hey question for you guys, how many kms do you usually get out of a tank.

I filled up 3 days ago with straight 98 and I've done 200km and its half empty... I have been driving enthusiastically though.

My 320d would get me to 600km every time just driving around town.

That's about rights or an N55. It's worse on an n54 with enthusiastic driving.

01/10/2015 - $50.00 - Road Map Australia/New Zealand PREMIUM 2015

The map update was easy, I paid Baccus here on the forums, he sends you a download link to a rar file and then the FSC code.

-Format an 8GB or larger USB stick to FAT32
-Drop the two extracted files onto it.
-Plug the stick into the USB port in your glove box.
-Wait 5 seconds and the car will recognise the update.
-Then just enter the FSC code and it will start loading.

Took around 30mins to load the maps.
Ive already noticed a difference, lots of new estates in my area weren't there the other day and now they are.

Thanks mate,

Read my post above
I got the map update from a user named Baccus, just send him a PM or post in his thread and he will hook you up.

There is another forum user offering the same thing, they both charge $50 and I'm sure that it's the same service, I went with the one who replied quicker .

06/10/2015 - $2400.00 - Re Spray
06/10/2015 - $189.00 - BMW Performance Gloss Black Grilles

I wasn't happy with the state of a few panels on the car, damage from the previous owner.

I had the following Repaired and Resprayed
-Front Bumper (Road Wear, Stone Chips, Small Dent on lower bumper)
-Hood (Road Wear, Stone Chips)
-Trunk (Boom gates came down on this, left scratches)
-Rear Bumper (Previous owner left deep scratches in the paint from dragging things in and out)
-Wheels (Repair some curb rash and Colour change to Gloss Black
-Calipers (Colour Change to match number plate orange)

I also purchased and installed some Gloss black Kidney grills

The car was in the shop from Monday to Friday, the final result was better than I could have hoped for, the colour matching is perfect, the wheels and calipers look great (When clean )

All scratches and damage were also repaired, so now, the exterior on my car is in just about perfect condition.
