Calling all owners of 09 & 59 E92s....

Do you all have the active headrest restraints?

The easiest way to tell - is if your headrest can not be removed..... or you haven't got the double stitching on the front.

I need to confirm that all E92 in this year range had this feature installed as standard!

Many thanks!

Now this is even more confusing! I have a late 2008 E92 & it's got these active headrest restraints! I'm thinking these might have been an option rather than a standard safety feature?

I originally thought these headrests were only on LCI E92.... obviously not!?

I was trying to work out when they were introduced as I want to but leather interior! I had purchased a set but found my car has this feature!

What the heck - I'll check mine again!

Mine is LCI, are you guys pre LCI?

It's possible I'm remembering my old 320d (2007) but I'm sure I've had them out on this one !!

Will let you know
Dave

Yes, pre LCI for a 58 plate. I thought the E92 LCI refresh was from March 2010 and in which case definitely pre LCI.

It moves the headrest forwards (or more accurately an insert) that ensures your head is in contact with the headrest in the event of a rear shunt to prevent whiplash. Not dissimilar to the seatbelt tensioners. They need to be renewed if they go off, £96 ea.

I thought they were standard from about 2008. My pre-LCI had them.

It looks like these active headrest restraints were introduced to our E92s late 2008 (58) then?

So all 2009 (09 & 59) models will have these headrests!?

I had a '58' E92, build mth was Oct,headrests were removable.

I think they were an option on the E92,but could of course become a standard fit later on,or perhaps on the LCI.

Did you have the 245bhp (N57) engine in your E92?

If someone with a 2009+ build comes back without having these headrests... then I'm giving up in my hunt for leather.... as trying to get sellers / dismantlers to find out is impossible!

I've just managed to yank my headrest off my 2008 E92, so I guess I don't have them, unless I've just wrecked them!

Cheers! You wouldn't have wrecked them, as it's impossible to get them out.... unless your the hulk!?

I must just be un/lucky to get them on my car! They must have come in sometime in 2008 as I can't find any info that it was an optional extra!?

Mine is March 2008 if that narrows it down.

You might want to use that Russian web site to check the VIN against any possible purchase to see if it's listed as an option?

Thanks for this site.... it's a very handy!

Unfortunately it doesn't state the headrests, which leads me to believe it's a standard feature (like airbags)! My build date is 10-2008.... so any car built after this must have them!

Cheers

*edit: I just notice hotcoupe had a E92 with the same build date & he never had them! One word.... BOLLOCKS!
