Hmm i'm confused... i have a MT w/ sport package as well.... but not the 18" wheels and i dont have the oil cooler either. I had to take it as is because it was the end of the year and the 08s in MT were hard to find.

Do we need the oil cooler? does it overheat a lot cuz mine hasnt. Can we ask for it to be installed and is it going to be free? Or are we better off going aftermarket if its needed?

You cannot get it put in for FREE it needs to be ordered that way or not.

You can put in aftermarket ones for sure search around you will see plenty of threads on that.

Definitely need the sport package AND 18" wheels for factory oil cooler!

You need to have your car overheat and go into limp mode. Then take the car to the dealer and ask them to see if BMW will add the oil cooler. Certain members here with overheating cars got the retrofit for free.

Crap. I guess I didn't research as much as I should have... I thought it was just the larger wheels, and figured I'd be better with 17's and all-seasons for now (like many of you, I figured I'd rather buy specific aftermarket wheels that I liked).

But I had really hoped that the oil cooler was something that they just started installing later in the production cycle... didn't realize it was sort of an "option" (albeit hidden).

Sigh... Even if it wasn't immediate, I figured I'd likely go the Dinan route... I guess I'll have to spend even more for the retrofit...

Us Cancucks get the 18" as part of the sport kit so I got an oil cooler with my car.........

I've noticed that our cars come with a few more bells and whistles as standard (eg we dont have a cold weather package, that stuff you jsut get with a 335) but we get pay more so I guess at the end of the day its a wash

Thank god I got the sport package. I just bought my 335xi yesterday in Space Grey Metalic w/sport, exec, and premium package. The sales rep said for me to forget about the 18" wheels and go for the nav instead. Told me about all the cool stuff with the idrive. I had nav on my last car and maybe used it 5 times in the 4 years I owned it. I opted for the sport package. Funny thing is that I ordered a JB3 even before I bought the car, lol. People should not listen to everything sales people tell you Does anyone actually know what the speed limiter is increased to? I think stock is 210kph right?

OK, guys. If you get the oiler cooler, might as well get the intercooler as well. If you have cruise control, they have to take it off for the intercooler (goes for Dinan), and the cruise control won't go back on. Easy way to tell if your car has a oil cooler. Open hood, look at the oil filter area (up front on top), if two big hose's are coming out of it and go left towards the passenger front fender, then down into the front end, YOU GOT ONE! If not YOU NEED ONE! I upgraded my 335xi to a Dinan3. Cost $8K, but its well worth it. Just my .02, Has anyone done the Stage 2 Dinan ECU and seen what the top speed is with it? I was told it should go higher than 155 mph, maybe 165 mph.
