Hertz esk 130

Just finished installing the hertz esk 130 in doors and I felt the need to share. Here are a few photos describing what i had to do in order for them to fit. The last photo is making sure the grill tabs would not interfere with the speakers and once this was achieved the mesh was put back on.

Haha , "Old School", I get it!

Seriously though, quite a hack job if I may say. You must have REALLY wanted to have those speakers in there. From an acoustical standpoint, I am a bit concerned over the apparent lack of a tight seal between the speaker frame and the door card. Did you use any kind of sealant like foam tape or weatherstripping to isolate the front and back waves of the speaker?

hmmm... not sure I would butcher my door panels to make speakers fit!

I went the other route and cut the tabs off my DLS R4s to make them fit

I did use weatherstripping just did not take a photo of it. Also the way i cut out the door panel, i can glue the factory piece back in and mount the original speakers, but i plan on keeping the car for a while and if i do sell i will probable just leave them in. The reason for going with a 5 1/4 vs a 4 was because i wanted more mid-bass.

So the 5 1/4 fit back in the door without hitting anything?

When installing the door panels back on they closed normally and nothing seemed to interfere since i can not look after the door panel is on. So in other words i would say yes.
