Wink New lens, new shots!

A big thank-you to Tony the 'Chinese Chef', for sending me the long-awaited Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens this morning.

It is around 3x the price of the f/1.8, but I thought I'd rather spend more an a lens I'd rather use in the long-term.

Compared to the stock 18-55mm lens, it certainly a lot better in low light levels & the bokeh provides for some lovely atmospheric effects.

Here's a few shots I've taken, straight after unwrapping it & mounting it onto the 450D's body:

No gaussian blurring has been used in these shots, although I have carried out a little vignetting to increase the 'Christmas effect'.

Did they not ask you first? I had to give permission for mine to be used.

Thanks Paul.

The cats only ever do as they like, so it takes a bit of patience & a lot of luck taking a shot of them.

I bought a dig photography magazine today with a free supplement with hints and tips etc. It has a section on taking pics of cats which I found quite apt!

It also has a paragraph which amused me 'Dogs have masters, cats have staff!' - very true!

The missus got me a Canon EOS 1000D DSLR for xmas this year, so I've just started playing with that - a fantastic bit of kit, I have sooooooo much too learn.

A couple of shots from my recent trip to the Costa Del Sol for NYE (and one of 'my boy', Dylan the Doberman)

^^^, some stunning shots there.

The only one of note lately, is the one I posted about my new wee boy (see thread). 99% of what I shoot is BMX or Mini Bikes. I'll dig some out !

( a wee bit photshop here and there; B&W, contrast, border, etc)

Paul, the composition of the tenth picture is all wrong. You're on the wrong side of the subject!
