As of February 1st. Looks pretty definitive to me. This was the first Castrol delivery here at work. I work at a BMW dealership.

Yeah I saw reports come February that was suppose to take place. I only had penzoil in my car for like 500km, but my only concern will be waiting for the commercial stock to all cycle back over to the new stuff again

Same, I’ve used Castrol from the E90 328 to the E92 now, zero issues. Comes out to like $60 per oil change buying the filter from Amazon and them 5 quart jugs from Walmart. Cheaper and the satisfaction of doing it myself as I’ve heard stories of the dealer changing the filter and tops off the oil to save time.

Hmm. I didn’t think that Castrol has an LL-01 oil for my M.

Castrol Edge was LL01 until BMW chose not to renew it. Still the same oil and still approved for Porsche and MB.

No. BMW updated the LL01 spec and the 0W40 no longer meets the new spec. The 5W40 is still LL01 approved.

Better safe than sorry. I’ve worked in the Honda service shop in my teens and have had friends work in other shops, I’ve heard first account and seen some lazy shit with my own eyes from them flat rate techs. Most recently I took my moms car to brakes plus and the service clearly stated they would cut the rotors and when I came back and caught that shit they basically said sorry, put it back up to cut it, then gave me a card for a free oil change after an hours wait, which I tossed in the garage as soon as he put it in my hand.
