I can’t find the torque specs for the axle shaft and drive shaft flange bolts... does anyone know them?

For what it’s worth for future reference if someone is searching I do have the mounting bolt torques:

Smaller Front Diff to Bushing Mounting Bolts 18mm=70ft-lb

Single large rear Diff to Bushing Mounting Bolt 21mm=128ft/lb

Thanks but the torx bolts on the flanges is what I’m looking for. Anyone else know?

Sorry to bump an old thread but do you guys know if a diff from an E82 128i automatic would be plug and play with my 2006 325i 6MT? They appear to look the same dimension wise and the flange also appears the same but want to make sure

Are the diff bushings and bolts recommended to be replaced or nah? I haven't been under the car lately but it's getting up in years / miles.

Edit: Never mind, I found Efthreeoh's 272k mile report that it wasn't necessary.

Just finished this swap on my 06 325i 6MT, got a 3.73 diff off of an 08 328i auto. Was pretty straight forward, I did it by myself using jack stands. I used a floor jack to lower the old diff out and raise the new one into position. The toughest part imo was torquing down the E12 bolts on the axles, particularly the exhaust side, mostly an annoyance really.

First impression is that this is definitely how these cars should have come out of the factory, feels more sporty and responsive, hits redline much quicker. First gear is still totally usable and I took her on the highway for a bit to see if there was an overbearing drone due to the higher rpms yet it was totally bearable in 6th you hardly notice a difference at all in sound.

Highly recommended mod!

Can this be done on the N52B25?

I've read that the diffs on the 2.5 N52 (ex Canadian 323i) is different than the one used on the 3L models.

Does anyone know if this auto diff swap into a 6MT car works between 2.5L versions of these cars also?

I.e. can an auto diff from a 2.5 work in a 6MT 2.5?

Engine doesn't matter much. Go to realoem.com and see if all parts hooking up the dif are the same between model you want to swap to / from.

The only reason I mentioned it was because despite being N52, I know it's not the same diff as the 3L N52 most on this thread have had success with.

I'm not really mechanically inclined, and sometimes get lost trying to find what I want on realoem (if I don't know exactly what it is)... but will try my luck.

thx
