I believe it works without coding but to be fully functional it will have to be coded to your vin.

you need to remove old vin in the chip on the logic board of the cluster and program new vin into it then code with ncs in expert mode otherwise it will not fully functional.

Desoldering the old chip from the board and replace with an empty one.
