resale with aftermarket wheels

I am going to get new wheels soon. I am wondering if I sell my stock 162's ...and then resell my car down the road (a long while form now) how bad will it affect the value since I cant return everything to stock? I am keeping my stock exhaust, suspension, and intake parts, but dont really have storage area for my wheels.

Let me know what yall think.

Thanks.

Isn't a problem for me trying to sell my car, but I have noticed a lot of people are coming off the forums to see my car, who were planning on putting aftermarket stuff on it anyway. Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I would keep my stock wheels just for convenience.

It really comes down to who and where your posting your car up for sale as well as what aftermarket wheels you have on the car. You shouldn't have any issues finding a set of stock 162's on the forums as people do post stock wheels up for sale quite often if you need to revert back to stock.

Depends on how you intend on reselling it. Private sale will depend on the style of the wheel and how it appeals to others. Trade in will be wholesale value regardless of what is added.

I'd say this is pretty spot on. If you put a crazy set of wheels on, chances are the future owner won't be too happy about them. If you put on a quality set of subtle wheels, it could increase or not change the value.

Consider your climate and the style of wheels you want to purchase.

Winter + Chrome (full wheel or lip) -> damage due to salt corrosion unless you wash them very often, something you won't fancy during winter. A complicated 3-piece design makes this situation worse.

During winter a winter tire is recommended which works best on a narrow wheels, considering aftermarket wheels are generally wider they won't be as effective.

OE wheels are a dime a dozen. Most non-enthusiasts do not care about "rash". Sell them while you can and if and when you sell your car, just pickup another set on here.

alrihgty, this really helps my thinking. I have the 162' now. 18 inch. and am going more than likely with some AG m310's....I think I have narrowed it down to that unless anyone has other suggestions for something lighter, similar looking, and about the same price.

Stock wheels (assuming the rest of the car is stock) will appeal to a wider audience if you plan to sell to a private party. If you are trading in it may also give the dealer a reason to offer less on a trade. I would keep the stockers.
