[FREE] e9x Central NJ Mod Event - Vinyl trim DIY

Hi All,

After 2 successful weekends of meeting nice people and helping them with simple mods. I'd like to see what projects other forum folks would like to take on this Saturday?

I'm going to take a shot at doing/installing Vinyl on my Chrome window trim as a learning exercise. If your interested in coming out to watch/lend a hand that would be great. If you would like to do a mod on your car this weekend... please toss out some suggestions and I'm sure we can work you in.

I'm located behind the Woodbridge Mall in Central NJ (Behind the Bosco's/Fortuneoff Parking area).

Watch/Hang out/Help
1) E90bedi (1 hour drive, better to try for next weeks turn out or the BBQ event)
2) JaysBlueE92 (No show)
3) chilled_fire (Last minute change... will come next weekend)
4) dannycee @ noon

Requested Mod install
A) (Started) imflyerthanyou - Chrome trim Vinyl @ noon
B) (Next week) Parth317 - Rear fog light lego mod and JB4 (last minute re-schedule to next week OR at tomorrows BBQ event)
C) (Done) PichaDis11 - Rear fog light lego mod @ noon (We also started Clay bar and Compounding paint stains)
D) (Done) dannycee & Bro - Rear fog light lego mod @ noon

If you guys would like to request a mod... I would be more then welcome to help you take on the following activities.

List of things I have experience doing:
1) Installing DCI
2) Cleaning and re-oiling old DCI's (Would require multiple days and we can install your stock intake till you come back for the cleaned cones)
3) Rear fog light switch lego mod
4) Installing JB4
5) Installing AE's
6) Installing HID Fog lights
7) Installing new D1S headlight bulbs
8) Installing factory alarm (you will need to find someone to code it for you tho).
9) Installing tint protector/mole skin
10) Changing out the stock HVAC filter or stock airbox filter (this is easy)

Things I plan on doing to my car in the near future:
A) Vinyl my chrome window trim
B) HPB Interior LED lighting
C) Automatic transmission shifter mod (for pinched wires when switching over to sport mode, seems like a common issue that all e9x automatics have over time)
D) Vinyl my interior trim
E) TBD - Please suggest a mod that you would like to learn together and we can take on the job.

- Faz

How about adding paddle shifters to a non-sport car? Or adding sport/other steerign wheel in general?

If you help me research the DIY, I would be more then happy to help you with the install on your car (i already have the paddles installed in my car cuz I had the sport package). But I don't do coding (So you will need to find someone else who can code any electronic features for the car to use).

Changing the steering wheel is also something I don't mind researching with you, seems like it will be fun to learn. But I don't do coding (So you will need to find someone else who can code any electronic features for the car to use).

Will do, I'll add it as an event with a specific Date/Time in the regional forums once I figure out my wife's schedule this weekend.

Cool, depending on when and where, I might be able to block time for this. I haven't done any coding in months, but I don't recall it being terribly difficult the first time around.

Do you want to create a new thread on how to do this mod and we can collaborate on that thread? Sharing what we find and what not... that way when we meet up... it's just about hammering thru the steps to do the mod. The thing that's interesting to me would also be to remove the steering wheel cover so I can vinyl that piece on my car. Also what i heard you can do is get the electronic steering wheel and that's suppose to be super neat!

Also if you are a skilled coder, you can feel free to make it a coding event too (its up to you if you take donations or what not, because the gas/tolls from PA to CNJ is not cheap).

I used to be in the SoCal area... hopefully I'll get to come back one day Plus thats kinda my reason for posting this in the general category rather then the regional... I'm hopeful that other folks in other areas will do the same thing.

No problem, I put you down for showing up about noon-ish. I have you in the hang-out section unless you want to do a specific mod (Please let me know so I can have you in the correct category/tracking)? Maybe we can clean up your engine bay (It was really showing the miles, hehehe)

It was just brought to my attention that there is a BBQ meet up going on Sunday (I still haven't figured out which day to do my event). If I'm able to do my event on Sunday as well... I might just change the venue to be @ the FB BBQ event so we can have more fun!
