Hole Drilled in E93 Passenger Door Jam

I've searched around the forum, and can't find any reason this would be here. I bought my car a couple weeks ago, and just noticed what looks like a hole drilled in the passenger door jam. I haven't noticed it before now because I don't really use the passenger door that often, ha! I'm not sure what this could be from, and it has me slightly concerned.

Why would someone drill a hole in this spot, and what can I do to cover it up/ protect it if it is necessary? I really don't like the bare metal look.

Thanks!!!

Paintless dent repair. They'll drill a hole in the sill so that they can get behind the dent. They'll typically put a cap over the hole. Yours must have fallen off

Thanks! Glad to hear it isn't something to worry about. Where could I get a single plug? Amazon only has full sets. Do you think one of those debt repair places would sell a single plug?

Also, I'm concerned about rust on that hole. Do you think I should treat it with some kind of rust inhibitor?

Thanks again!

Could also be for rust-proofing too. Should have a plastic cap covering it too.

I would definitely touch up paint the bare metal and then either find a rubber plug or use some black sealant to fill it and stop any water from getting in.
