Vinyl wrap / Plasti Dip

I've been reading threads about Vinyl wraps and PlastiDip and I'm thinking it sounds achieveable for the DIY types.

Anyone have experience doing this on the e90? How long does one last versus the other? From what I've read it looks like there isn't any side effects other than cleanup and initial investment costs. I've always wanted a white e90 on black rims and this sounds like best the way to try it out.

Decent results, and very durable from the reviews/feedback.

I'm planning to do my interior pieces.

Not to threadjack, but on the subject of vinyl, does anyone have any suggestions for a local Vinyl Shop?

I would be interested in Vinyl wrapping my roof gloss black

Let's see about doing a group buy!

As far as local shops, the one to trust in Tx is AVS in San Antonio. I think it's ridiculous to plastidip your car but then again it's coming from a guy who vinyl wraps them...

Start w/ plasti dip

PlAstidip is a fraction of cost so I would start with that... I've done my rims and some trim in AZ heat is holding up great! If I knew how to attach pics to this... I would... And I can't ever find my previous posts!

I plasti dipped my trim and it came out pretty well, but vinyl is more durable, harder to work with, more expensive, and would be much harder to black out your rims.

I recently plastidipped my wheels. It was easy to do, and while it does take some time to put an appropriate amount of the plastidip on, it went uneventfully.

I would suggest that you clean your wheels very well, and pay attention to getting the outside lip of your wheel to have adequate coverage, otherwise it'll peel off pretty easily just on that outside diameter once you start cornering/driving aggressively. Other than that, which was my fault, it's held up to scrubbing/vigorous washing no problem at all. I re-did one wheel for the heck of it and the plastidip was relatively easy to remove.

It's a very inexpensive way to mess around with colors, and it's 100% reversible. I am tempted to try some interior pieces, but not sold on liking the texture for that application.
