So time for Brakes...'07 335i.. few questions

So I got my rear brake indicator warning light on the other day and I only have "700 miles" left of my rear brakes and my fronts have about 2000 miles left on them. I looked at the DIY and seems like a pretty self explanatory job. I will also be getting the sensors. My only questions are:

1)What pads did you go with? I have read reviews on the "popular" pads and seems like Hawk, Cool carbon and Stock are the "preferred" way to go.

2)What is this bedding that I have read about? Seems like it is a break in period for the brakes. What's the proper way to do it?

3)Did you do your rotors with the pads? I have almost 50K miles on the car and it has not been drove hard. If you did, what kind?

I know that there is some stuff out there but I keep running in circles.

Thanks for the help!

Stoptech rotors and pads, and as for the bed-in you could never do it and slowly let the pads transfer over time.( not recommended). Or you could drive on the freeway and do a couple of 60mph to 20mph hard stops in a row , then allow a cool down for a couple miles. Read up more on it so that you don't mess up. Worse thing to do is to do hard stops as described above and come to a complete stop while they are red hot. They will feel warped .
Have a good one.

I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. Your questions have been asked and answered so many times on this forum. It'd just require some reading instead of creating yet another thread on the same topic. You'll find different opinions and answers and have to make your own decision. Oem rotors and pads are your best bet imo-Textar pads and Zimmerman rotors. No bedding required. Measure your current rotors and decide if you want to replace them now or later.

I went with Stoptech Slotted Rotors and Stoptech Pads (and cable lines too, figured why not). However, my OEM Rotors and Pads were baaaaaaad. So I didn't spend as much time researching and went with the best deal.

Okay op this is probably like top 5 most asks questions! I'll assist this time though

1. Pads I went with Akebono Euro Specs pads, great for those who want better break feel and significantly less breaking dust (hardly ever have dirt rims now because of them)...they do not have as good bite as the oem's but perform better. I highly recommend, ran me about $76 on amazon for both rear and front pads with sensor.

2.Yes you do have the break in the breaks per say. Follow this guide: http://www.stoptech.com/technical-su...ake-pad-bed-in

3. Rotors are fine, the OEM ones are beautiful for Daily driving and 50k on those are fine, i'm at 98k on stock rotors...just check for warping and make sure the surface is nice if not it may need to be shaved down a layer or two or a smoother surface. If you do end up doing rotors, stoptech makes some good ones, if not just opt for the stock rotors again.
