Bmw 335i Coupe Twin Turbo Upgrade

When do you think you would be able to upgrade the turbos on the 335i. Money is no matter. I just want to upgrade the turbos and have a lot of power.

What, a 380+HP/400+TQ 335i w/ the Xede seriously isn't enough for you? The Xede-equipped 335i will do 0-60 mph in ~ 4.1 - 4.5 sec. and the 1/4 mi. in ~ 12.5-12.8 sec.!!!! That's right there with $80k+ sports car speed.

Do you have your 335i yet? If so, you may want to come with our S. FL Xede group up to Riviera Beach on 12/17 and 12/18 when Shiv Vishnu himself will be installing the Xede Stage SubZero kits in our cars; he'll be tuning them and dyno'ing as well. If you're interested, PM me and I'll give you all the info so you can call Shiv, order your Xede and get set up to have it installed on your car as well.

Here's our thread by doctordel, who's coordinating the event with Shiv; you can also PM him of course...

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36416

btw - If you do something more than the Xede, like change out the 335i's small twin turbos for larger ones, you'd better be ready to add an LSD and further upgrade the suspension and wheels/tires, among other things. And, if that's the case, you might as well buy an M5 or M6 or wait for the '08 M3! btw - the "small" twin turbos are the reason for the lack of turbo lag; if you put large tubos on the 335i, yes, it would be faster, but you'll also have major turbo lag.

sfl gator, thanks for information you have given me. The stock power is not enough. I have a Bmw M3 Supercharged level 2. If I upgrade the turbos on the 335i, then I will destroy a level 2 m3. So what ever it cost's. I want to upgrade the turbos on the 335 and be the one of the first to do it.

I cant seem to find it, but I remember shiv saying that "if someone comes along with enough cash, i would upgrade the turbos"... or something to that extent... maybe he was saying it in the thread where someone was asking for 400+ whp...

There are plenty of tuners that's more than willing to take your money to upgrade your turbos... I am sure Shiv can do it and many other's as well. If you have the cash, then there's no reason to ask when... the answer is now.

what is this, need for speed underground? "level 2" supercharger?

p.s. bigger turbo's will not necessarily make you quicker.

There is no need to go with larger turbo's unless if you want a dyno queen with bad drivability. There are certain things to do first and if that is not enough then you can take another route. Xede, Turbo Back exhaust (No Cat), Larger Intercooler, New Intake, Hard Pipes (intake side), new diff, R Compounds and last but not least... race gas. That is just to put the power down, then you have to focus on suspension and brakes which will run quite a bit more as well. If you aren't happy with the car after all of that, then try larger turbo's but at that point don't expect any form of reliability and drivability.

Thanks for your point but the 335 will be my project car and I am going all out on it. I am doing everything possibly. Thats why I need to find out who can upgrade the turbos on it. I already bought exahust, rims, brembo brakes and everything else.

Just curious, what is your ultimate goal with this car? Drag race, autox, track days, etc. I am not sure what turbo would work on this as I don't think anyone has been willing to try it yet. You probably want to see if they have a really good turbo / shop engine builder around Boca as you may have to take apart the engine to harden certain items.

What exhaust did you buy? There are only like 3 exhaust I've heard of and the Vishnu one sounds the best by far. The CP-E and....damn can't remember the other one, but in my honest opinion sound like crap.

why upgrade something that hasnt become a bottleneck yet? Shiv said he limited PSI because of knock, and octane limits... not because the turbos were too small...
