20 now, 21 in may
first car 2001 honda accord ex coupe
second 2000 honda prelude
third 1999 audi a4
Now 08 328

Ive started busting tables since i was 14. im 20 now and have a couple of investments and still sometime bust table, but moving on in greater things in life.
Every single one of my cars ive bought myself and paid off full. No payments. Including my 08 bmw that i bought when i was 19. Extremely proud. To be honest, i can sell all of my shares and investments and cash out and buy my dream car GTR, paid off if i want, but like i said im moving on to greater things in life and im extremely thankful for what i have.

You're definitely correct. But the real point is, someone making $60k or $70k can relatively easily afford a $40k car that happens to be $20k cheaper after three years of depreciation, which I get the sense is much more common here.

And I don't want to hear about cost of ownership. An n54 with all maintenance and repairs done by the dealer out of warranty is wildly more expensive than an n52 maintained DIY or indy. And one that gets crashed into things is going to be wildly more expensive than one that doesn't . Comes down to owner's choices.

So this is what you all talk about on the BMW forum...

Almost as bad as everyone talking about their cars "stance" on the g37 forum.

JK.

98 maxima in HS for $5800 paid for by working at 7/11. That bad boy lasted me all through college. Masters in EE, now a well paying job and this has now allowed me to buy an 08 G37s at the age of 23. Its really not that difficult. $40-50k cars that are now four years old can be had for $20-30k.

If your parents give you a car that you don't have to work for then congrats. I really don't give a sh*t. If one day they don't have people handing them things, then they are going to learn about life the hard way. I'm blessed to understand the hard work that goes into getting and education and supporting oneself.

I get asked this a lot esspecially since some of the people who ask know my history... basically dropped out of high school, applied for night school at colleges because they didn't require high school diploma, dropped out of that in the first semester... worked my way... now I'm a Senior unix admin at 24 and the youngest senior in my workplace =)

my car order:
89 celica
99 Acura 1.6EL
2003 Altima

I actually got my 335is because I got into Johns Hopkins (#13 University in the US if I'm not mistaken). Sure, its my parents money (although I did pay for the down payment from work), but I feel that I deserved it, along with the Rolex for high school graduation with honors (a crown for every acheivement, right?) My parents would rather me get unpaid internships than waste time working somewhere where I will never get anywhere, even if I am making a couple of bucks... there just isn't as much time do have a full time, low-paying job and do well at an amazing higher educational institute.

I was asked to explain myself when I first joined, and I seemed to have won over most of the older populous of e90post, so I'm not going to explain myself again. Some are lucky, some aren't as lucky... my parents didn't have to give me anything, but they felt proud (and they have damn high standards for me).

An a**hole is going to be an a**hole whether he has a 10 year old civic or a brand new BMW. Money may be a factor, but its not the car you drive that makes you what you are, it's how you were raised...

How did you manage to squeeze in a Bachelor of Science degree which IIRC is still a requirement for pilot training?

Parents paid for my first car wasnt that great but i loved it. I worked since i was 12 at an electric shop then when i was 15 started working in a factory. I wanted a car that got better than 9 miles to the gallon and my parents gave me the okay so i paid for all of it on the spot + trade in value of my truck.

I started working when I was 8 and saved every cent. Walked 5 miles to my job in the sulfur mines (uphill both ways) every day in spite of the fact that the average temperature in my town is 30 degrees below zero.

Then when I turned 16 my rich Mommy and Daddy bought me a BMW (even though I wanted a Porsche)
