N55 Trans problem

I have 11 335 FBO and I am having a slight grind in 2nd only when shifting hard from 1st to 2nd. Normal driving it’s fine. I upgraded my clutch with the 335is one and a SMFW. I change the fluid when I did the clutch with a mix of MT-90 and D4 ATF to dampen the noise. What do you guys recommend to fix the grinding and can these trans be rebuilt.

Same here, had my trans replaced 4 years ago under warranty and now the new one is doing the same thing. I've heard others have had similar issues as well. It's the 2nd gear syrcho that's grinding, and from what I've heard the transmission is not rebuildable. I'll probably end up doing a n54 6 speed trans or just get a new unit from bmw.

N54 6mt is your best bet. Ive had to replace my n55 6mt for grinding in 2nd gear.
