From my understanding you don't have to but, it's a good idea. That way the new VO is written into CAS & LM.

I guess now I know you need to code $522 into CAS and NFRM (not LMA-- LMA is 5- series I think) so I think that'd be correct.

No errors, no fast blinker.

I do get flickering at start up and a buddy told me he sees flickering after I use my turn signals. I might have to code WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_HI (warm signal rear) to nicht_aktiv also.

Is this correct?
from what I heard, you only need to change nicht_aktiv for rears
KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_HI
let me know how it works, I am planning to do this when my cable arrives.

Let me re-code it this weekend and I'll tell you know how it goes. I'll turn everything back on except:

KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_HI

Any advice?
I have the *exact* same error. When the car starts up, there are no errors, but when I put the car in gear .. the "rear right Brake Lamp malfunction" error appears. Mine is a 2007 E92 with a build date of 1/07.

Very useful guide and helped me to code my car.

My car has FRM module. I have done coding and made sure that all the lights are working.

However I am having rear right brake errors:

Following are error codes which I get OBC:
CC-ID 87
CC-ID 118
CC-ID 123
CC-ID 133

All the lights work fine and no problems.

These errors disappear if I revert back to Pre-LCI tail lights with rewiring back to original.

But as soon as I connect LCI tail lights, these errors re-appear. These 4 codes are linked to each part of tail lights (2 right and 2 left tail lights) and most possibly linked to LEDs in the cluster.

Again I repeart myself that I have followed this thread for coding but still getting errors only on LCI lights.

Can anybody suggest what can I do to get rid of these?
I can live with it, but it is annoying that I get errors whereas all lights work fine.

Did you do the VO way? I have coded this retrofit for a 335 and an X5 and they were both super easy. It's like +MUEB or +MUEH or something to the VO.

Since I have FRM, therefore I preferred normal manual editing way.
I am not sure how to edit VO and if FRM can be edited.

Sorry for the double replies.
I'm at work right now so had to forward them to my work address then back.
The last email has the corrected file.

You had more cold and warm tests to deactivate plus turning off error-reporting.

Grant really appreciate your help. I think no other person can go at that level to help other that you sent me prepared file.

However unfortunately, I still have those errors.
I searched google and could not find correct meanings of those. Inpa does not show those.

I am not sure what is wrong here.

Can somebody confirm, with FRM module and with LCI rear conversion, when you turn on lights, do you get only LED (in brake lights) on or LED + half lit brakes? And when you press brake, they go to full position.

The reason I asked this question, on pre-lci only LEDs (lit by bulbs) were on with lights on and if LED brake bulb was faulty, it would lit brake bulbs in two stages, 1st is half lit brake bulbs on all the time with normal light, and full bulbs on with brake pressed.

I reckon two things can go wrong;
1) Althought my LED bars are on, but something is not correct with those, and they create error, and hence brake bulbs are half lit with normal lights on and full lit with brake pressed.
However if I go back to Pre-LCI lights, no errors are reported.

2) I am missing something in coding (less likely especially when GRANT helped me). Also I cannot UNDERSTAND why would OBC create an error when cold and warm check are not active. How would car know that some bulb is not functional if it is not cold and warm checking.

I hope somebody can suggest something. I also believe that with FRM, there is no way of adding anything to FA, as reading back, FA modification is possible on FRM2 or FRM3.

Thanks.

The file I sent you disabled warm and cold check and error reporting (warm, kalt, and FEHLERMELDUNG values) for brakes, signals, fogs, reverse, bfd, and rear signals. Coding should be good to go. Have you double checked your wiring?

The wiring for two parts which are on bootlid has been altered and no trouble with any lights.
I do not think that we need alteration in outer part of tail lights. And they work fine with pre-lci. It is only lci lights giving error codes despite of correct coding.

makkan00, have you coded other things successfully? Just want to eliminate that as a possible source of error... I could conceive of a beginner coder skipping some steps in the profile creation and using Expertmode to do this, which would just set the module back to stock each time...

Really good question. That has been the case before for other people.

Write the FRM using the MAN I sent you, then re-read it out and see if the TRC shows the edits still.

Yes, I have coded other things.
Even lci coding is workin as indicators are not blinking rapidly as they were doing before coding.
So coding is working, but there is some problem.

Cam somebody plz confirm, which things are on from tail lights when you turn on lights?
Only led bars or bulb as well?

Hi Grant,
As mentioned earlier, I used your file. Wrote it to FRM and later extracted it to see difference.
Only three differences are there which are:

CBD_ZEICHN_INDEX
wert_01

GESCHW_DOWN
wert_01
GESCHW_UP
wert_01

These additional line are present in my file which is extracted from my car but not present in your file.

I wrote your file again, but somehow, these lines come by default during the coding.

Any ides if these are culprit?

Thanks.
