Removing Spacers

I just put on my snows a few days ago with a 10mm spacer on the back however, I forgot to put on anti-seize in the ring. Thinking I should go back and put some of the anti-seize on, I pulled the back wheels off and was looking at the spacer - which probably isn't seized but definitely well seated.

What's the best way to remove a spacer off the hub without damage?

Prayer and rubber mallet...

It is quite difficult to remove them without damaging the spacer and/or the wheel hub. I tried to remove my 15mm spacers with anti-seize applied already but still no luck. Recently I've been thinking about using some fishing wires or guitar string to "floss" the flat sides to increase some distance between the spacer and the hub so you can have some room to lever it out.. I wonder if that would work. I'll give it a try the next time I install my winters.

Try using a penatrating oil and let it sit for a little bit then tapping it lightly with a rubber mallet.
