Here are the rear fogs on my mine and my wife's E90. I got my switch on eBay from a guy in England new for $69.00. A steal. My wife was not too particular so I just modified her rear fog button and shaved the clips. Both work great.

I spent a lot of time shopping around before I did my install and found a lot places that had the part on their website, but we're unable to source it after I placed the order, as BMW NA has embargoed the part in the US. Turner was one of the places unable to get hold of the part. In the end I end I bought from a company from that was shipping the parts in from Europe. I'll look when I get home to see who I bought from. I think I tried several times to place orders and was told by many US companies that they could not obtain the part.

This is my first official post. Just bought a 2011 e90 LMB M-sport and did the DIY for the rear fog light. Worked slowly and got it done. Thanks everyone for the links and info.

Question

Question for those that have done this mod (not putting in a euro switch, but the other mod where you just hack up your existing switch). Is there illumination in the existing switch for the rear fog light button? Reason I ask is that you can easily get a used euro switch off of eBay and just use the bottom button of other BMW model. However, I don't want to go through the hassle if the bottom button isn't going to be illuminated in the stock switch.

Here's the switch I was thinking of getting for the button.

I just did mine. There is a spot for an LED to be soldered in, but on mine, the LED was not there for the lower button.

I ended up 3D printing a spacer that was identical to the one on the upper fog light switch, so if I ever decide to, it would be simple to solder in an LED to illuminate the area. Then it would be a matter of finding the right button, or scraping paint off the factory button (not sure I'm that artistic..)

Thanks for the reply. I ordered the Euro switch above and will transplant as much of it to my existing switch. Will post up how it works in a few days.

Ok. I just did mine and there was an LED on the circuit board for the rear fog lights and with my new button (as seen below) it works just like the top button. So, instead of paying $120+ on a euro switch, I got mine sorted for < $25.

I can confirm an earlier poster's comment about 2005 build dates - all of these appear to have the second white 'lego' piece inside the switch - just a matter of shaving the tabs. No euro switch purchase or odd creations necessary. The entire effort took 30 minutes, and I used a road bike tire tool to remove the trim pieces.

This should apply to all e90 330i's like mine. I have an especially early build of 02/2005 but have seen others throughout this production year not needing to buy the switch - unless its a must for aesthetic purposes.

So, if you are thrifty or need spares, a 2005 build date US HL switch will net you two lego pieces or a workable rear fog setup in itself, minus the visible amber indicator on the button.

You can also scratch the black paint out to mimic the rear fog symbol, although this requires steady hands and a template.

I just did mine.

I ordered the Euro Headlight switch, but forgot that I had the chrome trim.

I moved the chromed switch over from my old switch onto the new easily.
