Intro post - E90 335i

Hey all,

I've been hanging around here a few months now and thought I'd better post up a bit of an intro..

I've had a few cars in my time; ranging from an E30, a few VL Turbos & 8's, E class mercs, a '73' 911, Hilux 4x4's etc.. And currently a late 2007 E90 335i.

I picked it up in full grandpa spec from a dealer in Sydney with just over 50k on the clock. The old guy found it too sporty so traded for a new S class. He optioned the 335i (non-MSport) with Active Cruise Control and Active Steering, etc.. Although the Active cruise is ugly as fk, it's soo good out on the highway!

Mods to date (in order):
Tinted windows (bricked the car for 3 weeks - long story)
Front splitters
Cobb tune
Cyba exhaust tips
Painted brakes Gunmetal Grey
AR Catless DP's
BC - BR coilovers
Matte Black grille
Painted finishing rods Matte black
ER 09+ Charge pipe w/Tial BOV
Helix FMIC
BMS Catch Can
CP-E DCI's
Forgestar Super Deep Concave 19x8.5 and 19x10
Nitto Invo 235/35 and 265/30
Wavetrac LSD
LUX 5.2 angel eyes
Eisennman axel back exhaust

A quick thanks to Peter & Chris at Advan as well as Stu & Allen @ BMRAutowerks for advice / supply and fitment of the bulk of the mods above!

I just got the Helix FMIC and ER CP fitted a few days ago @ Advan and chucked it on the dyno for a quick checkup. Although a fairly hot day (34deg on the way home) and running an Off the shelf tune (Stage 2+) it managed 255.9rwkw. Bear in mind that's with the stock airbox & paper filter.

Once the intake arrives, I'm hoping to get a custom map to see how she goes. Also keen to see just how much of a difference an intake can make.

A few quick happy snaps.. More to come when the new shoes arrive...

welcome and nice power curve you have there mate!!

Should have got a pre IC dyno run to see what it was doing, and what gains the IC has given you.

P.S. don't expect any gains from an intake, it's mainly a sound enhancement.

Thanks everyone; I'm really happy with how it's turning out.. I like the look of the non M-Sport rear more and more, especially on white.

I have to say I was extremely impressed with the Helix fmic as well. I ordered the extra J-Pipe with it so the entire cool side piping is replaced. I think it played a part in the increased throttle response.

I'm almost there.. It's a bit iffy whether the wheels I ordered will fit.. I'll find out soon enough I guess! (19x8.5 w +30 and 19x10 2 +28).

Nice Car and Welcome.

Pretty sure the front will fit just fine, the rear should be as well with camber and guard rolled.

Helix was $1005 landed, and Advan fitted it up. No cutting needed, even with the cruise control sonar module on the front..

That power curve on the dyno graph looks really good also.

Its interesting to compare how the cobb boosts compared to my procede in the graph also!

Yeah I've been following your thread for ongoing mods etc too. I noticed you mention the throttle response after the downpipes went in.. I only noticed a slight increase although when the CP & FMIC went in, it was night and day!

Have you had yours on the dyno since getting the downpipes & FMIC on?? Keen to see the curve / figures to compare to procede! My mate here in Canberra just got his VZ back from a cam & tune package and pulled 325rwkw so I'm feeling a little insignificant.. Although when I look at his invoice, I feel just that much better..

Mate, do you have a pre IC install dyno chart?

Not to compare the numbers, more so the power curve.

I don't sorry. Getting the fmic installed was a last minute thing before christmas so didn't really have time for pre / post runs.

It'd never been on a dyno prior to the fmic runs above.

Thanks! Just saw your E92 in Dr-Jekl's thread.. Looks good! I'm always in mixed minds whether to go black or silver wheels.. Good to see a few more AW's around!

As for the blacklines - I'm really not a fan.. Especially on white.. I think they look a bit dated.. I'll either keep em stock or there's some all red ones floating around that MAY look ok... I'll wait till the rims show up..
