The JBD is pretty awesome. I ran it at 60% for 6 months and just recently cranked it up to 100%, and there is a difference. I have thrown two CELs by accelerating too fast within the first 10 mins of starting up the car, not even full throttle, just a quick acceleration from 0 at the bottom of my street. After warm up, I haven't been able to throw a code.
The car is a beast, so much fun to drive. Coming from my E46 M3 I thought I would be disappointed, but I am continually amazed by this car. The sport suspension isn't quite like my M, but for most of my driving, it is awesome. |

So wait, you can just code your car to think it has a sport package? I hardly ever go past 110 in mine, but for some reason it just annoys me that I can't go past 130 lol.

No sir. You can code your car so you can have a true speed value digital speedometer. It would show up in the center panel screen where you would normally see your average range/mph/mpg. I would take a pic for you but I just dropped off my car at the stealership this morning. Stuck with a 320i for a few days.

Haha, I love my '02 but I'm struggling to find any words to compare the handling of the two cars, they are so different. Granted my '02 is bone stock so it rocks and rolls a bit around the corners. They are great cars though, I doubt I will ever sell it. |

My last thread-jack comments: if you go to my profile I think you can see my old 2002. I know it'll never happen, but sometime when I am up at VAC Motorsports in Philly I ought to shoot up to your whereabouts and have a look at yours for nostalgia purposes. Mine would hunker down and drive fast on the autobahn all day long. It was great and much more forgiving than my '70 911e.

Yup. Now that I have transformed my ride with suspension and tires, where does one go to have the limiter raised to 155? Nowhere I expect. Not sure where I plan to drive that fast anyway. It's the principle of the thing.

Evolve &renntech both remove the top speed limiter. I've seen conversation of resetting the non sport max to the sport max, but it didn't look like folks had too much success. Maybe try the coding section?

Got zero response from the coding forum. May try directly asking a few of the tuners.

I have had some coding done. There is a guy that travels the east coast and does it. I am fairly certain that the top speed limiter is an accessible without getting into the ECU that is protected (with is why we can't easily remap either).

Just Installed Jbd Tuner
Hardest part of the installation was getting engine cover off and reinstalling. I set the JBD to 100% (or "max" on the dial).
Tool the 335d for a test-drive and no codes thrown. Really looking forward to seeing how it does on Deal's Gap this weekend! I am keeping my ScanGauge in the glove box just in case it throws codes. Some guys have said that I may not be able to clear "phantom" codes without the CAN Tool, but we'll see.

Yeah, that engine cover is a PITA (poor design possibly?) to remove. I learned my lesson and removed the upper right screw while just lifting up the area I need to install/remove the JDB whenever I have to.

ive never had trouble with the engine cover. Just throw the right hex bit into the screwdriver handle and get after it. Shaft of the screwdriver handle fits right in between the cowl and the battery cable and that bolt comes right out. Same thing in reverse

Tail of the Dragon Route 129
Just ran the "Tail of the Dragon" from Deal's Gap to Tennessee and back. Pretty AWESOME fun, even with the rain. JBD Tuner was probably helpful on the uphill bits. No codes thrown so far.
