What to do next?
I currently have an 07 e92 335i and the only mod is the jb4. As a late xmas present my brother told me that he would contribute towards my performance goals and would purchase my next mod. Dont want to have him spend a ton of money, but not sure what to do next. Downpipes were at the top of my list, but not sure if i want him to spend that kind of dough..
Any recommendations on what I should do next? I guess I can always just have him make a small donation towards it if it's a high ticket item, even though he said he's fine with buying whatever. Thanks for the help. |

Was looking at the ar downpipes but was nervous about getting the cat less ones. I live in ct and am worried more about a visual inspection when emissions come around. I believe I read the jb4 already has the dp fix in it to avoid a cel light. Anyone know a place in the Stamford area that would "overlook" the visual inspection?
Even though it's only once every two years, but would it be worth it to remove them and put the stockers back on just to make sure? Any recommendations as to which dps? Ar, aa has a group buy going on. Any real performance differences? |

No performance difference when comparing the same size diameter piping. The real issue is fitment. I have AR so I know they fit perfectly, but I have also heard AA fits perfectly as well. I can't comment for sure because I have never seen them being installed.
Methanol injection may be another route you might want to look into.

I can swap downpipes in less than 2 hours now. Really isn't the end of the world for a once in a while inspection |

Here is my order if I could do this again (note DP and FMIC can be swapped in order)
TIRES Loose the RFT's. No point in adding tons of power if you don't have traction. 2. Tune 3. Meth 4. DCI 5. DP 6. FMIC 7. LSD 8. Suspension 9. Exhaust 10. Turbos

Even though I have thought of meth I still have my warranty. I used to work for the BMW I take my car to so mods can be overlooked but I may be pushing it a little if I installed a meth kit. That may be for when I'm done with warranty and I'm use to the power of a fbo on pump. Thanks guys so far for the input.
Anyone have a sound preference between downpipes? Still using the stock cat back for now. Definitely would want a more aggressive sounding vehicle. |

I got the AA's off the group buy, fit perfect, welds are also very good. There won't be any sound difference between downpipes, your stock exhaust will be slightly louder with the dps in. I'd definitely go dps next.

Since i've decided on downpipes, which should I get? Seems as though many people have said, AR or the AA ones. How about macht Schnell. Any fitment issues or weld problems with any of these? Any other recommendations other than the 3 mentioned? I know it's becoming redundant, and I apologize for it.

FMIC and DPs. Keep intake temps down and the turbos breathing better. If you dont track your car, then DCI for a cheap $100.
I went AR based on the reviews on the forums. I had them installed by a performance shop that only works on bmws and they said they can always tell AR from the rest on how well they fit and are built. |
