could you imagine a side impact with that thing?!
Yep. They're designed to be removable. Open the door, disconnect the electrics (quick release plug), lift door off the hinge. Remove or attach all four doors in five minutes if you're practiced.

As for side impact, you're sitting high in a body-on-frame design where the doors are not designed to be a structural member. Anything tall enough to be a real threat to someone in that Jeep would be tall enough to come over a BMW door and through the window.

Hahaha, good question. I was actually trying to find a parking spot at a parkade and had to take off my seatbelt to push a button for a ticket.

Don't want to be seen as a dangerous driver

Doors were locked ? That may tell you is problem in mechanical or electrical part. The point is : if car is locked you need to pull twice in order to open the door, else once is enough. Maybe before actuator replacement (like 80E if I remember in Germany, have replaced that when bough the car) you should check Bowden cable position (29 on picture).

If door have airbag I would recommend to disconnect battery first

They don't on Jeep Wranglers. The electrics to the doors control power windows and power locks if the Wrangler.

Side airbags, if equipped, are built into the front seats.

Just took my car to the dealership.

They can't find anything wrong with it...which is exactly what I figured would happen...

Yep. I'm still going back and forth with them...my car is there until tomorrow.

I mentioned there was someone who had this same issue with a 7-Series...so I'll keep pressing!
