Soo im getting out of a 328 6 speed mt, looking for a 335is in 6mt, but all's I ever find is the DCT

Just wondering if anyone could chime in that has came off a 6mt and into an is with DCT

I personally love driving manual, would love someone to persuade me

I switch between my 3er and any number of automatics all the time (mostly rental cars) and for just basic tooling around in the city, I don't miss the 6mt a bit. Out on the highway, I've noticed turbo lag is a tick more apparent with an automatic than with a 6mt, but only when one is slamming on the gas for damn near a standstill. And frankly that's something that doesn't happen all that often, at least for me.

I had a 335i automatic as a loaner once. It was quite impressive. The power is no less palpable than in my 6mt. And at times, it's nice to have a hand that need not be at the ready for shifting gears.

i went from a 335i 6MT to 335is DCT

I love the DCT but there are always those days where you feel like rowing through the gears. The DCT is also so quick sometimes that its almost boring, the SMG3 in older BMW's felt much more mechanical.

I dont know if that helps because you cant beat the speed and accuracy of DCT but you really do miss the feel of MT sometimes. When i get my next car i have no clue if I will go 6MT or DCT

To each his own I guess. I love the dct much better than a manual, the shifting speed is insane.

If you want a 6MT you'll never be happy with a DCT. Not to say one or the other is superior for a street car, it's all up to personal preference and I've found that those who enjoy DCT's would have either but if you're a true manual guy you will always miss not having it.

Don't give up! She took a while, but I found mine in the exact spec I wanted and I couldn't be happier.

Had the 6MT is a 135 then traded for 6AT in a 335 now looking for and "is" with DCT. Loved both the manual and the steptranic for different reasons. But I sure won't miss the second gear starts on the steptronic. Sure the DCT will be over the top and can't wait till Spring.

OP, why dont you go for test drive and decide what you want, give few test drive tries at different dealars.

Many people were in the same position. They had and loved 6mt. Looked for 6mt 335is, but couldn't find one and settled for the DCT.

I work at BMW and I have people tell me over and over and over again that should should have waited for the 6mt to pop up or just find a different car alltogether in 6mt.

Don't settle for DCT if you're a 6mt lover. You won't be happy.
