335i Automatic Transmission "P park" light issue

Hello everyone,

As stated in the title, the "P Park" indicator on the selector lever won’t go off even after the engine is turn off. Has this issue happened to anyone else on this forum? Appreciate if anyone can help explaining this problem.

Thanks

How long are you waiting? That light stays on until the car electronics go into sleep mode, approximately 15 minutes after turning everything off.

Unlocking or opening the door will wake the electrical system so I would recommend looking through the window without touching anything after 15 or 20 minutes to see.

Thank you replying, the car was stationed for less than 15 mins, along with other 335i which parked roughly around the same time (with in 2~3 mins interval). I looked through the window and while all of the other panels including odometer were already turn off, but only the "p park" light located at the shift lever stays on.

The next day, when the BMW mechanic plug into the computer (don't know extacly what they did to it, reset or not) the "P parking" light goes back to normal. kinda odd.
