That's the one, thanks! Those are the torque specs I used and have not had any problems.

*BUMP*

Hey fellas,

I know plenty of folks have benefited from the DIY so your insight is much appreciated.

I'm trying to remove the radiator fan and after unlatching & unscrewing (top left & bottom right), the fan seems to be stuck on the driver side.

Any advice?

Regards,

I’ll accept the flame for bumping a 87 year old thread but I’ll get flamed if I start one right? Anyway, I had my belt, tensioner/pulley replaced around January 2018 at around 77k miles. Currently hovering around 112k miles, just about 35k miles on the belt, not worth replacing as of yet? Had a nightmare that my belt slipped off and you know…toasted N54. WWYD?

I reckon 50K is about right for a change interval provided (a) you used a genuine BMW belt and (b) you have zero oil contamination. So change at about 125K.

When replacing the belt it's best to pin the tensioner into the compressed position else it's going to be tough to get the belt on while compressing the tensioner. An allen key that fits into the hole works. If the belt won't go on then remove it and try again. I put mine on last night and it all looked good but wouldn't go on. It must have been hung somewhere because when I took it off and tried again it went right on. I put the Continental belt on.
