.. and to add to the post above, you can even preset your phone contacts there (ones with the bluetooth option).

DID YOU KNOW?

If you TWIST the "clown nose" or knob below the rearview mirror it will shift to reduce glare! Not sure if this is available with the auto tinting rearview mirrors.

Does anyone know about the passenger SIDEVIEW mirror tilting down when you unlock the vehicle? This happens to me after I park my car and hit the center unlock button. It pans out the mirror to a different position vs. the reverse position for seeing the curb. Problem is that it does NOT go back to the original setting and when I press my memory button it doesn't go back either

WEIRD!

I think the nav system has inertial guidance when it loses GPS satellite contact. Can anybody confirm this?

When I entered a parking garage it still seemed to track where I was going, including turning and stopping. Either that or it still managed to get a satellite signal.

Also-- the Steptronic tranny will shift down two gears when you double-click the left paddle. I thought that was exclusive to the DCT, but the ZF auto does it as well.

Wow, that's cool.

One of these days I should read the owner's manual.

is there a way to lock the car when you're getting out other than using the fob? seems to be the first car i've owned that needs to fob to unlock upon exiting the car.

I use the door handle myself. Pull to unlock and then again to open.

Just curious, if not shifting down two gears, what did you expect pulling the left paddle twice to do?

This is true for all cars with built in navigations, and is one of the major pros for having a built in system vs a portable Garmin/TomTom/etc. Built in systems will use compass and vehicle speed sensors to provide tracking when GPS signal is weak or not available.

Pull twice on the door handle like someone said, or you can also unlock the whole car by pressing the door lock button next to the DTC/hazard flasher buttons.

I was expecting it to ignore the duplicate click if it was done before the transmission acknowledged the first one. I'm pretty sure that's what my old Audi's tiptronic did (it was a 2001).
It's just a button, interpreted by software. Gee, what if I click it 5 times really fast?

the original question was how to do it without the key. this is the first car that i've ever owned(26 cars), that i couldn't just lock it by pushing the lock button on the door.

When you said fob I assumed you meant the remote function.
I know of more than one make that won't allow you to lock the doors without using a key. Prevents you from locking them in the car.

on my truck, you push the lock button once, than it locks about 20 seconds after the last door has been closed.

In my experience the first realization that you've left your keys in the car comes a milisecond after you hear the lock click. No matter how long the delay

i would be inclined to agree, but the last time i locked my keys in the car was about 8 years ago lol. i guess i'm a creature of habit, i generally stuff the keys in my pocket and push the lock button followed by closing the door. this way may be better, i'm just not used to it yet.

They add the cool light flash and alarm plink just to make you want to use the fob

Ohhhhh, so you assumed that if your in 6th, tap it twice, it would shift to 5th, and then 4th. But it you double tap it quickly, it shifts from 6th directly to 4th? I have to give this a try.
