New SLK Roadster
Now, I am not looking for a new car, however, I spotted this lease deal on the web and I am rather interested...
Merc SLK 200 BlueEff AMG Sport Auto (7G) Edition 125. It comes with metallic paint, airscarf and heated seats, as well as the comprehensive spec; HDD Nav, Xenons, parktronic, cruise, leather, AMG body kit etc etc. The personal lease is a 6+23 £1650 down and £275 per month (which includes the VAT), RFL for the first year (it's only 151 gm/Km) and 10K pa. I rang and confirmed that the deal is definitely available. http://www.solentvehicleleasing.co.u...pe=0&tenure=24 It's a 1.8 turbo, 0-60 - 7secs and returns a decent 43mpg or so. Nothing to set the world on fire. OK, bit of a hairdresser car, but in the revised trim it looks aggressive enough and looks like a mini SL. I could see myself in one of these and the numbers stack up £7950 over two years to drive a £32K+ car and no worries over depreciation, future values - it would have one service and require 1 years VED. Even the mrs looked twice at it and once I said it was an auto and that it would be hers to drive next year when I am away, she was interested.... If I could sell the 120d and not make a catastrophic loss, I would be taking things a little further.. |

How much are you hoping for the 120d?

I would need £14500+ for it, but not sure what is a realistic private sale figure, don't think that is far wrong. I did a WBAC sanity check on it, and the figure came up as £13150 so it must be at least £1K+ more than that for a private sale.

Good luck if you decide to sell the 120d - the SLK looks the part for sure, and if youve already got the wifes approval (hardest part of buying a new car IMO!) then go for it, the SLK is a looker for sure

Forget all the jibes about pertersasoon or vidalg1965, that is a cheap deal and i think they look great.

Peter, the are also similar 12 month deals available on the SLK200 at the moment which look tempting too.
http://www.pantheonleasing.co.uk/mer...rcedes-slk.htm These are actually contract purchase i believe so you own the car. |

No not coming back for years - [at least I hope not!] - but I'm about to buy a run around while the 911 gets some TLC. I need a car until next spring. On the list is :
UK - CLK55 AMG Cabrio - 2004 facelift on to avoid the rust and dodgy radiators. c£13k. UK - Various 964, 993 options. Too much choice really. FR - Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9. Buttons, available locally in good numbers. But now - one of these AMG Sport SLKs is effectively £420/month for only a year. That is insanely cheap isn't it? With the spec here: http://www.pantheonleasing.co.uk/mer...rcedes-slk.htm Thats a 35k car. Comes with COMAND, etc. Hairdressing banter aside, they are rather nice. 184bhp is not the end of the world, and it is manual. Plus as I just hand it back, so no need to worry about no-one wanting to buy a manual mercedes. Only catch I can see is its a 2 seater....

These lease deals are insane - the 3+11 at £299 for the Sport is begging to be done!
I think in the spring we'll be looking at one of the 3+11 deals to replace the Mini with as these very short-term leases really play into my car-buying habits perfectly and I just can't see any downside (please....someone tell me the downsides if there are any?). I've never previously looked at leasing seriously due to the need to keep a car for 2+ years (God forbid)....although I'm yet to find a lease that'd see me in 5 different cars within 12 months Let's hope these deals are still around on some decent kit in a few months but thanks Peter (and Andrew on the other thread) because I'd never really looked into leasing properly before. |

I will have a look at local deals but wouldn't expect to get anywhere near such a good deal here.

Looks like the SLK finally has the left/right hand drive light problem sorted - if an SLK has halogens you don't need to do anything (car is already compliant so I assume it has a flat beam), if it has the Intel Light System (assume this means Xenons), you change to a flat beam through pressing buttons in the on-board computer.
Progress! Trigger finger wavering.

Thanks Pjs, I've just asked for the small print. I might have to clarify that.

Previous model was better to drive, but I suppose you don't buy one for it's dynamics.
Lot of fun for the money. |
