Navi screen brightness and night mode.

So i was messing around my 2007 335xi with navi. I went to screen brightness. Turned it up. Nothing happened, turned it down, nothing happened. Is this normal? Also shouldn't it automatically dim during the night? Its bright as shit at night, I'm going blind from it. Is there a night mode? Theres no night mode in the options menu. Also i was messing with the brightness during the day, is it set to max automatically during the day? Does the light sensor have anything to do with the screen brightness? Please someone help!

Turn the headlights on and then try the adjustment, it should adjust then. Having said that I still occasionally have to fiddle with it at night if I go from a urban environment to rural and vice versa

Set the night mode as one of the shortcut on 1-6 (1-8 in Europe) buttons and see how it goes.

I dont have a night mode option. I have a 2007 idrive ccc. The older one. Am i missing something? Is there a navi update?
