Found some good 335is, with no options. Showed the listings to my dad, he wouldn't consider them. He wanted iDrive, heated seats, the prem package, etc. I eventually found a nicely equipped 2007 335i sedan, but it sold before we got to test drive it. We test drove a different 335i that we didn't like and he said it had more power than I would need. 335i wasn't really an option then. All my weeks of avoiding and nitpicking 328is became futile.

Finally, in August 2011 I found the car. 2009 328i Sedan, loaded, with 3,500 miles. It was priced at $28,750(!). We took the 75 mile trip to the middle of nowhere, test drove it, and bought it. A 3500 mile car in the current bodystyle for $15k under sticker. It was practically brand new.

Now it's mine. I'm gonna spend some of my savings on tuning it and making it look better. I don't know why my dad bought me a nearly $30k first car, but I love it and I'll be driving it for awhile — I won't have a real job untill my early 30s if my plans work out.

Tl;dr my dad bought it.
Lol @ this story.

You know what I drove at 16? NJTransit. Fully equipped with killers, muggers, thugs, you name it. At least there was A/C.

I was surprised that I got it, it was going to be his car. He still drives the same '98 Expedition that he bought off a friend for $5500, 5 years ago.

Thanks.

I honestly attribute a lot of it to luck. School might have been partly my doing (getting out earlier than most), but moving up in the banking industry definitely was a mix of ambition and luck. Mostly luck, lol.

I went from Personal Banker, to Assistant Branch Manager/Senior Banker, to Branch Manager, to AVP of District Operations in two years, and recently took my VP position, and while banking is my forte... I know I'm not good enough to move that quickly without a lot of luck on my side.

So yeah, that's my story so far. I love my job, and thank everyday that I was able to excel in doing what I love. Personally, to me, it was a humbling experience.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling...

You misinterpreted my comment. My accord was lowered with tasteless rims, faded tint, and peeling paint on the hood, trunk and roof. It was not in good shape...

How did I afford mine? Well...After I graduated high school I started going to community college part-time, a class here and there, nothing big. I worked full-time (and over-time) at my family's restaurant as a cook/server for about two years. Saved up all my tips, etc...I drove a 2005 Honda Civic that I got brand new. I wanted to upgrade and get a BMW, so I lurked on the internet for months trying to find a decent deal on a new one. Then, one late night, on Feb. 2, 2008 as I was headed home from a friend's dinner party an uninsured, unregistered, suspended license, racing, drunk driver (3rd DUI) sped into my lane hitting me head on as I tried to counter-steer. Car was totaled, luckily came out alive along with my passenger because of my maneuver and the culprit was later apprehended hiding in the nearby vineyards cuz he ran. Received settlement for the car, hospital costs, chiropractor, etc...I had free time on my hands once more and took to the internet to search for my beauty. Patience and lady luck were on my side this time as I came across an '07 328i w/less than 500miles on it. My dad went to check the car out with me and was reluctant to get the car, but then he was convinced and he co-signed with me. I payed my down payment in cash $1000 in One Dollar bills, $1000 in 20 Dollar bills and $500 in 100 Dollar bills! I still remember the look on the face of the lady that had to count the money hahahaha We've been happily married since Feb 19, 2008 and going strong

I bought my first BMW (E30 325i that I still have) when I started working as a electrician trainee at the age of 17.

After this I had an e30 touring, a couple of e34's and a E39 530DAT. After working as an electrician for 4 years, I started working as a MWD engineer (measurements while drilling). In January I was sitting in my office at the rig feeling sorry for myself because I had jo work one week overtime. I started looking at car ads and suddenly I (my bank) was the owner of an E91 325i. :P

I go into this office every weekday and as a result they give me money every two weeks. Because of this I was able to promise BMW that I would pay them back and those suckers believed me. It helped that I put a "good faith" payment of a few grand down before they lent me the rest.

Worked my way through college and law school. Now I have my own solo practice at a young age and I've done well enough over the last five years to pay off my 2007 335i and mod it a lot. I wouldn't change anthing about the experience, especially the ED before the Welt was built.

I'm just the average guy who works his ass off. Was always into Hondas and modding, but at 27 in an administrative position. Figured I needed a car that matched my lifestyle? Car is financed.
