I seem to have a problem with the front tyres. The front tyres seem to get weared up on the far outside side and the rest part of the tyre seems to be like new.

What's wrong?

Am using bridgestone potenzas

Wheel alignment needs to be checked by a competant operator using specialist equipment.

Expect to pay £100 or so.

Both tyres are showing the same wear pattern?

Do you do use a lot of roundabouts?

If not, then my inital post stands - proper 4 wheel alignment check/adjust is called for.

only two times a day, when i go to work and when i leave... 6 times every day

ok, i will probably get them checked on monday..

Just make sure it is a "proper" 4 wheel alignment per se and not just a "Supertracker" job.

Mine went exactly the same way on both fronts, very annoying when you look at the masses of tread on the rest of the tyre. I've replaced them now and am running with a couple of extra PSI in the front to hopefully stop it happening again.

Mine did the same at 22k, recon its just a standard wear pattern, there are other threads that support outside wear on the fronts and inside wear on the rears..

Dave, I've not driven the car hard at all but the tyres had 20K on them when I bought the car so maybe the previous owner liked to spank it a bit. Nothing else about the car suggests its been thrashed though.

My tyre fitters in Bletchley (Milton Keynes, the home of the roundabout) do confirm the general tyre wear is caused in Milton Keynes by the roundabouts. I have used the same fitters for 10 years now and the prices of tyres from them seems to always reduce each time I visit!

Wish the manufacturers would put more tread round the edge! One thing to check, is the inside tyre wall (the one on the hidden side of the wheel). On one set of tyres I had I found bulges and badly worn patches, when I came to replace a tyre.

Yes, many cars will exhibit increased nearside tyre shoulder tread wear due to roundabouts - we have a few large ones round here and they are rough as rats - it's no wonder the tyres take a hammering.
