6MT guys just curious
Do you leave you car in gear or use the E-brake.....
I find I just leave my car in whatever gear I stop in 1st, 2nd, reverse... whatever. but I never use the E-brake,because when I used to then the rear brakes would make silly noise at slow speeds. What do you guys do ? |

But do you guys lean it on the tranny or the E-brake,,,
like put it in gear first feel the tranny holding the car,, or pull e-brake 1st and back end lifts up and gear just as a secondary precaution |

When parking on flat surface I only use the e-brake, e-brake + 1st gear on hills/inclines.

Always set the e-brake first and then put it into 1st gear.

1st gear, e-brake. I never use e-brake when a car is parked in winter.
P.S. How does this topic associate with "Turbo / FI Engine and 335i -335d Tuning / Drivetrain / Exhaust Modifications"?

while this is a 'general' question OP is asking, I assume its being posted here to get some specific insight from owners of the MT guys. Drive train is somewhat related, although his concern appears to come from the e-brake. Either way, I park in first Gear and Ebrake although I don't own a 6MT. One day your E brake may fail. In that event u don't want ur car rolling down a hill. So 1st gear has the highest compression resistance. Best gear to stop the car vs 2nd 3rd etc.

I would never use ONLY the handbrake. The car moves when parked on an incline if you don't pull the brake really hard. Always park the car in gear, its safer !
