Exhaust rattles - cure

Not sure if this has been disussed before but thought I would share just in case.

I'm on my second e92 now, first pre LCi 325d, current 330d LCi.

On my pre lci 325d I noticed that a rattle coming from the exhaust, upon inspection I found that tiny stones had managed to get stuck in the tailpipe covers! I thought BMW had fixed this on LCi cars but no luck. The other day I heard the same rattle on my 330d.

Its Easy to fix just twist them and Pull and they come off easy to reveal a load of small stones / tar. God knows how they manage to get in there it's not as if I drive on gravel a lot just a pain in the rear.

On a more positive note still love the 330d

Thanks for this

My exhaust rattles sometimes on cold starts, and I just assumed it was the two pipes touching each other. I'll have a look and see if I have stones inside
