Cool Detailing with Nick from Polish Perfection

Thought I'd post a run down of todays detailing session... Nick from Polish Perfection showed up at 8:15am ready to rock and didn't leave until just before 6pm.

Todays procedure included:

• Concours Tutti Frutti Foam
• Meguiars Mirror Glaze (Single Orbit Machine Polish)
• Auto Bright Direct Extreme Glaze (Dual Rotary Machine Polish)
• Poor Boys Black Hole
• Poor Boys EX-P Sealant
• Dodo Juice Blue Velvet (Soft Wax)
• Dodo Juice Hard Candy (Hard Wax - Double Pass)
• Auto Bright Direct Project 32 (Paint Sealant)
• Meguairs Clear Plastic Polish (for the lights)

He did split tests with different polishes to decide which compound to use (this was the first machine stage which resulted in us using the Meguiars Mirror Glaze which was up against Poor Boys SSR-2 and Concours Pre-Wax Cleaner)... Attention to detail was as good as I've seen, on the odd occasion a cloth or applicator was dropped it went straight into a bag for washing and a new one came out, all round great service and highly recommended

Anyway, heres a few shots from the day:

Great day, all good

Looks great. This is something I'm definitely having done this summer; after 25k miles it could do with a pro's touch to refresh it.

Looks good. Did you put a sealant over wax?

The EX-P sealant went underneath the wax layers to seal the layers of polish, the Project 32 went over to add an extra sealing layer to the whole job

That is a great finish mate, you must be very pleased. Are you allowed to say how much that cost?

No it's fine... expect to pay in the region of £200 for a full day's TLC

I'm clueless on these things...

Are they able to clean up stone chips on the bonnet and bumper? Or is this a respray job?

Looks great.

Terrific job Sooty,£200.00 seems quite reasonable for that level of finish.

Love the colour of the wheels by the way

chips need touchup or respray.

a "correction" details will machine polish out all the swirl marks (millions of really fine scratches) that tend to show up in bright light. after such things a sealant/wax is used to keep in the mirror like finish.

The detail conducted by the OP is not a corrective one but more of and enhancement one, maybe something even more superficial as no correcting has taken place but lots of lovely products have been applied to make it look fantastic for the summer

Very reasonable for that quality of work, certainly better value than BMW service rates!

No there was no corrective work (well, swirl marks and scratches were removed but nothing particularly intensive)...

However, when I got the car, the bumper, bonnet and windscreen were peppered with many tiny chips... so before this detail got done, I had the bonnet and bumper stripped and resprayed back to factory quality and replaced the windscreen

Yeah he's in Cannock

Just experienced something pretty cool... its been raining here and I had to pop out and get something out of the boot...

When I got to the car, all the rain has beaded beautifully as you'd expect, then when I opened the boot all of the water just fell off leaving a dry boot lid

He gets that a lot People seem disappointed to find generators, hoses and a mountain of products in the back of the van rather than a couple of tasty Eastern European ladies

I think I'll need to go down this route.

Do you mind if I ask roughly how much this set you back?

You can indeed good sir...

The bumper and bonnet respray cost me £400, and the windscreen cost me £70. We shall say no more about the windscreen

Looks good but i wouldn't of used poor boys, don't get me wrong it's good but for long term i would of used menema compound with then maybe a high performance sealant with a layer of colinte for a good long lasting seal, but black hole does bring out a unreal shine for dark coloured cars but doesn't last as long as other products

Cars looks to be in tip top condition aswell lad, fair play

You should invest in autoglym aqua wax, real handy for quick cleans and keeps it well protected

Blackhole is a glaze and you need to put a sealant or wax over the top for it to last.
