Driver's express window...not express???

Why is it that all windows are express on our cars until the door opens at which point you need to hold the window button to put it up or down. On my Toyota I can hit express up/down and open the door and the window will continue to operate. On my E90 if I hit the express window up before I open the door it will go up on its own (express) until I open the door at which point it stops and I have to hold the up button to bring it to the top...thats piss poor! BMW needs to put more thought into their electronics...not impressed at all.

It's probably some sort of safety feature.

It is after all, kind of umm, lazy, to be complaining that you have to hold down a button for a few seconds to open or close a window.
Not for nothin but I just gave up an audi a4 that did the express up/down with the door open so I was used to that feature. The windows on the audi also had a pressure sensor that detected obstructions (like an elevator) so it would prevent window breakage...I'm not sure if BMW uses this technology. And although it may sound like I'm complaining its more like comparing.
