F30 Advert was just on
F30 Olympic themed ad was just on. Anyone see it? I pointed it out to my wife and she thought it was an e90. She did admit that the headlights looked a bit different.

The advert has been on since the start off the year, I don't think the ad does the F30 justice. Too many fancy camera angles or am I becoming an old fart?

It's a worse car than the E90. Interior quality is significantly worse and the front headlights are awful. The side profile looks exactly the same.. The engine choices have decreased.
I don't know what they are playing at. That said the spy shots of the F32 / 4 series are very intriguing.

It looks horrendous from the front, the headlights are minging. Speaking to a dealer about it a while ago and he said the 328i, whilst good, has lost the straight 6 sounds and feel that BMW has always been known for in it's petrol engines. I fear the amount of pressure on economics/environment will be the demise of high powered high revving petrols. |

I thought the very least a 'new' 3 series range would have, is twin/symmetrical exhaust pipes, similar to the 335i/d.
Perhaps they had a lot of exhaust systems to use up I know the engine range has changed, but to me externally, it looks like another LCI on E90. I'm pleased I bought my 325d when I did and saved quite a few quid.

When the e90 was released opinions were polarised. The same will happen with the F30. The F30 will be a better car, but some aspects will not be universally liked, i.e. the frontal aspect, downsized (more efficient) engines, and internal styling that has changed significantly from the E90.
It will still sell in droves, as people aspire to the brand. |

Hi Guys, Dave_3 and I are going to a VIP launch here in switzerland on the 7th and if we are allowed to or not we will take some pics and post on here so we are able to give an informed opinion, not just spouting a load of third hand bollocks.

But *their* bread and butter or not; The F30 is the result of the euro eco nuts and cost cutting measures from Munich in equal measure. The E90 is a better car. This is my opinion, sure. But I think the majority of people on here (Albeit perhaps a biased sample being an E90 forum) agree. Also. Who do you think you are to tell me my opinion is bollocks anyway. You may choose to disgree but that's something else entirely. Lastly. Again, in my humble opinion... The E36 was a massive massive downgrade on what came before in terms of driving experience and appearance.. But it bred the E46 so all can be forgiven (The E46 being very much to the E36 what BMW were trying to do, but failed to do based on the concensus so far: With E90 -> F30).

I've owned an E46 and now a E92, truthfully I can only really comment on whether the F30 is any good after I have test driven it at the very least, I might not prefer the styling at the moment but I'm not sure that rules it out from being a better or at the very least a comparable car.

The F30 is a far superior car than the current e90 model. Once the msport model arrives in late September we'll see just how it compares to the current model. The first models released always look pretty bland. Regardless of our opinions anyway the f30 will sell big time.
E90 was a cracking looking car but is now looking dated. Again this is my opinion and I own a e91 btw. |

I dare say it will be as good if not better than the e90 in most departments. It just seems like the whole development budget was blown on trying to do a better interior as that was about the only place the e90 ever got slated.
The 3 series is indeed BMWs bread and butter. Unfortunately the majority of the bread and butter comes from the fleet car market these days. It's a bit of a victim of it's own success. |

It'll still sell based on the contract hire market (reps / businesS) and because of the power of the BMW brand. It's certainly not revolutionary in any way though and doesn't really look special at all.
M sport will change that.. But meh.

Maybe it'll end up with a short life span like the Golf Mk6. Nobody bought that because it looked too much like the Mk5. |
