is BMW paint protection worth it?

If you have a black car are you still doomed to clean and wax/polish every month?

BMW advertise that you dont need to wax your car for 3 years if you go for their £299 protection pack.

Don't bother,had it on my 5 series still had to give it a polish now and then.
Spend £400 on some detailing Re Jumbo. All IMHO of course

I bought a Supaguard kit from ebay for my last car for £15. It included protective coating for the body, wheels, and carpets.

I think I would have gotten the same effect if I had tickled the car with a feather!!

So for the £285 labour - for a half days work, it is defo a rip-off!! IMHO

Go over to detailingworld forums and learn how to do it yourself, then, after 6 months or so, when the effect allegedly wears off you'll know how to reproduce it.

skansa - talk to Rich @ Polished Bliss. He spent time helping me put together a kit of Zymol and other stuff. He really knows his stuff. He spent about 20 minutes on the phone explaining to me how to use the products then emailed me a detailed programme tailored to what I'd bought. He recommended Zymol Carbon for my sapphire black 335d. Haven't used it yet as car hasn't arrived

lol, long time. not till Oct!! on a 335d Msport E92.

still indecisive on colours, moved from TiAg to LeBl now decided on Sp Black with saddle and Dark Grey poplar.

If I was you I'd probably getting exactly that other than the wood - never been a big fan of wood on sporty cars. Like LeBl but not brave enough to go that, TiAg is ok but I think Sp Black is best if you can keep it clean !

the aluminuim dents and scratches really easy so its more preventitive upkeeping! the problem with these forums - too many ideas, thoughts and experiences!!

Aluminium is fine if you are aware of it - had the car over 2 years and not a scratch or ding (in the aluminium interior bits)

same here re trim, no probs, although mine is 'brushed aluminium' on e46 so maybe that's cheating

. If you are careful i'm sure its fine you can always replace it if it gets too bad.

I've got a glacier blue tinge to my interior aluminium
With the cross hatches I think its hard to scratch. The brushed aluminium looks so bland when I compared it the other day.

If I had to have wood then I would have that piano black wood in the E92, it looks great.

It's a personal choice - when I saw the si interior I didn't like it one bit. I thought it looked a bit.....cheap

Piano black is great. Agreed there.

The only thing in the si that looks cheap is the wording limited edition around the start/stop button - I think its Bavarian humour.....

Guys steady on with the "cheap" - there's probably quite a few people on here with that trim and they probably won't take too kindly to their trim being called cheap.... I appreciate I said I wasn't a fan of wood but there's a difference between not being a fan and calling it "cheap" IMHO. Plasticy trim is perhaps cheap but I don't see how brushed aluminium can be.

In fact I really like the piano black trim, and I know traditionally perhaps sports cars had wood in (?) years ago it just surprises me when I see blacked out grills, removing chrome but having wood in. Each to their own.

I maybe should of said it wasn't very nice looking in my eyes or summat. It wasn't a dig at 320si owners - I just don't like it - cross hatched glacier blue tinge aluminium just isn't my bag.

I can't see how brushed aluminium looks cheap (or bland!)either but I think "cheap" was just a retort to my comment.

No offence taken by me - it's just an opinion - and an internet opinion at that!
