Forge DVs - Shims or No Shims
Forge Motorsport came to Chicago for Midwest Treffen 15 in Chicago. I was able to snag a set of brand new Forge DVs for an amazing price. Unfortunately, Mike from Forge was not able to tell me much about the shims for the DVs except that they are for fine-tuning the pre-load of the springs for the DVs.
So, I'd like to inquire all of the owners of Forge DV: do you use any shims? Also, are you running the yellow springs or the green springs? Thanks in advance!

The shims you're talking about are those metal round plates that can be put on top of the springs, no?
If so, I didn't use any......forgot what color springs I used, but I did create a thread months ago asking the question of which color springs.....

Being better is really a subjective statement. Some members are running at least 17-18psi with stock DVs and no problems, and others not so much. So it is really the end user's call.
Just like saying that N54s are a POS due to the failing hpfp, but some members with FBOs and meth are still on their original hpfps......So take everything you read on this forum with a grain of salt? Just my .02

They ditch the rubber diapragms in the OE Dvs and use an aluminum piston w springs..they r supposed to hold boost better if you r tuned..w that said there are plenty who use the stock ones boosted w no issues..just peace of mind for me

Forge DVs have a metal piston instead of a rubber diaphragm, a known source for failure. I am running higher than stock boost, therefore I want to make sure that boost control is at its best.
As a side note, Forge told me that their N54 DVs could be easily turned into dual blow-off valves...
