BMW Paint Job.
I recently was involved in a wreck and had brought my vehicle to the body shop to get repaired. After two weeks of calling almost every day, I was finally told my vehicle was ready. I came to the shop where I found vehicle outside... Which I wasn't able to Inspect to the detail I wanted because it was dark outside. The next day I washed the car and did a detailed walk through. I wasn't impressed. What I found was a Maaco level paint job. I cant imagine I am the first person to complain. Paint runs, painter tape on the vehicle, paint on the tires, paint on the inside of the fuel door, paint on the inside of the vehicle... Simply the worst paint job I have ever seen. I hold BMW to a much higher standard. I will be honest and say that I did call a lot to find out the status of the car because I had to return my rental.
Any suggestions how I might deal with this? I have considered writing the director of the shop to complain. Would I be crazy to ask for a courtesy vehicle?

There are no "BMW body shops". Most likely the body shop is owned by the same BMW dealer, but it doesn't mean their quality is top notch.

You could try calling the Body Shop Manager Jason. I bought a CPO '07 328i last May from Fairfax and the first time I washed it the paint came off the wheels when I sprayed them with the garden hose. I went to the dealership to complain and ended up speaking with Jason to show him the problem. He looked in their system and saw that their body shop had reconditioned all 4 wheels during the CPO process. Once he saw that the defective work was from his shop he apologized and offered to fix the wheels at no charge. He also put me in a rental car from Enterprise which the body shop paid for. The wheels looked great once fixed and have held up so far.

i found this interesting.
No law requires more than one estimate thats why you should bring your car here! You are not obligated to use any particular shop to obtain repairs. You choose the shop and authorize the repairs. We want you to feel good about leaving your car here! You do not have to accept the insurance company appraisal's of damage. we will tell you more than needs to be replaced! Check the appraisal clause in your policy on how to resolve any issues. ok There is a big difference between shops . Any shop can give a lower price by leaving something out or overlooking parts. so thats why your price is so cheap? Our people are "CRAFTSMEN" and will do a good job of restoring your vehicle at a fair price. i dont want a good job i want a factory job. |

BMW Fairfax is horrible. Complain and bring your car to D&V Auto Body in Sterling.

Sorry to hear about your experience. This is why it is so important to research bodyshops. There are more bad ones then there are good ones. I recall you seemed more focused on when to apply a clear bra so I assumed you had already done your homework on the bodyshop. Take your car back and tell them to fix it right or they don't get paid. If you paid without a proper inspection you may have a more difficult road ahead of you. Good luck.
BTW, did you allow them to install that clear bra too? |

Well I screwed up. Being that it was a BMW body shop... I put my faith in their work. I can tell you this. Learned my lesson... the hard way. I did not have them instal the clear bra. Figured that it would be better to be sure that the paint did cure. That and i figured I might find a better deal. I emailed the director of the body shop yesterday at 10am. I still haven't received a response. I will call in tomorrow to speak to someone.

Once you get this worked out and you will, call Cliff at Auto Armour he is the one of if not the best clear bra installer in the area. Like bodyshops not all clear bra installers are created equal. For future reference next time go to Euro Pros in Gaithersburg MD - the BEST in the area. |
