Rumour about window tint FIX IT TICKETS in BC
I recently got a ticket for my front windows being tinted and also got a fix it ticket. I heard rumours (other forums) that in BC the Cops never really process the fix it tickets (Notice and Order) anyone from BC have this experience? Its only been a week since I got my tint and I really wanna keep it.

In BC, you're allowed no tint in the front two side windows under the Motor Vehicle Act regulations 7.05:
(8) No person shall drive or operate on a highway a motor vehicle which has affixed to or placed on the windshield or a window any material that reduces the light transmitted through the windshield or window unless the material is affixed to or placed on (a) the windshield but not more than 75 mm below the top of the windshield, (b) a side window that is behind the driver, or (c) the rear window if the motor vehicle is equipped with outside rear view mirrors on the left and right side of the motor vehicle. (9) If a motor vehicle contains manufactured glass, tinting contained within the glass must meet the minimum light transmittancy requirements under the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. |

Absolutely true. Ask me how I know! Sometimes you can get away with a 35% tint in the front, but that is usually what they check first when they pull you over. And believe me, they most definately DO process those fix it tickets! You have about 30 days, and if you get pulled over again you can either get towed or get issued the full and dreaded "VI" or vehicle inspection also known as the "box 2" I believe. |

I know of 2 people that got the "fix it" ticket. They removed the tints and when they took their cars the the police station, they didn't even go outside to look at their cars. But I wouldn't risk it. Just remove them and then get them tinted again if you really like them. That's what I did.

I got a tint ticket in Halifax a few years ago with my E46 330xi. It was not a "fix it " so I gladly paid the fine and I still have the tint. I am getting the same tint on the E91. As long as I don't have to remove the tint I will pay the fine (don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine). I consider this a small price to pay and part of the tint price maintenance. BTW the vehicles were/are purchased in Quebec and the tint are within the legal limits in Quebec. When you guys get a "fix it" ticket do you have the option to simply pay the fine and ignore the "fix it" part?
