i too have put my sale on the back burner, id rather keep it.
im happy to accept that selling is a battle of wills,im also happy to accept that the 325 isnt the most desireable version of teh e92, but advertising a car for say £8500 and getting offers of £5k from people who probably dont even know what car it is they are ringing about is ridiculous (webuyanycar offered me a better deal than that!)
one guy offered me 3 cars in part-ex. what on earth would I do with 3 cars??

If this is your car I think you will struggle because it has a few things going against it:
  1. It's petrol and most people want diesels
  2. It's an SE and most people want an M Sport
  3. Most of all: the interior looks really pauper spec - it badly needs leather and preferably sports seats.

If I were you I'd think about keeping it and/or swap the interior with a second hand leather one:

Considering that price includes a 1 year AUC warranty, 1 year tax, new rear brake discs/pads, front pads, 1 new tyre + 3 vgc and some other stuff I forgot what would you imagine the private sale value of this car is? Way less than what Autotrader might make you think.

I have been watching Autotrader on a daily basis for around a year now and it is a poor indication of the price you will actually have to pay as a buyer at this time of year. I made offers to plenty of dealers in the past few months knowing full well they'd be knocking a grand off the car in a month or so anyway. 2/3 of those cars are still on Autotrader and below the prices I offered I have seen BMW dealers cut £3.5k from a price over night, and mine had dropped £2k from the original listing price.

I don't know what advice to give you as a private seller. It is a buyers market at the moment. That may well change from March onward, but for sure around Christmas time most people are short of cash as it is. Judging by what Webuyanycar offered you though you should be able to get ~9100 without too much hassle.

What others said is true. I love the red personally, but unless you have cream leather to contrast and the M Sport styling, red wouldn't be the colour I'd pick, especially if I knew I'd want to sell the car quickly. Black is the safe option people love these days.

I'm guessing yours is the 2.5l 325i too which is less desirable for tax reasons.
That's a bit of a deal on the 335i.

What 'tax issues' on a 2.5 325i are you referring to?

On a similar note, what month was your registered in 2007?

£11k is not bad for the age. They are dreaming asking for £14k. But that's how most dealers work. They put ridiculous prices up initially and if someone takes it they make £3k on a motor right Once it's been on the forecourt for 3/4 months they'll cut the price by 1500 quid and be happy to see the back end of the thing. Depends on the car of course. With a 335i the turnover is not as high as a corsa or something so they are willing to hold it for a bit in the bid for a higher margin.

The 2.5 325i is £270/yr. The 3.0 is ~£190 iirc. Only £80 but high tax puts some people off.

Mine was registered at the end of October.

Oh Ok, didn't know that. Obviously must be because of the change of around Sept '07?

That's what the change was for the 335 too, so you were even more lucky there.

They changed the engine to a lower emission 3.0l N53 (vs N52). It has direct injection and can run in lean burn mode.

All the early 335i's were band K afaik? It's only the convertible that pushes into the next band (£460!). Even the estate with an auto is band K from what I have seen.

Afaik, if it was registered before Sept '07 then it is £440 tax or whatever, and after that it's £200-odd.

Cool about the 325, I didn't know that. I knew feck all when I bought mine about BMW models lol.

Mate we buy any car will knock you down on the initial offer. Thats what they get their commision on.

I guess you have nothing to lose by going there but better off trading your car in.

Need to keep the faith, I just paid strong money for my 57 plate e90, but it was the perfect car with the right spec that I was after. Had my R32 for sale for about 6 months and the first person that came to view bought it.

neither is ebay,autotrader and pistonheads

just the same traders that wanna pay peanuts so they can sell it on and make a wedge

I dont think theres any real buyers out there ,its doesnt matter what i put it up for ,maybe i should put up an ad 'free car' lol

36 watchers on ebay and none of them offered more than 7k
