E90 2010 CIC I-Drive GPS position incorrect

Hi all,

I am having a problem with the GPS not showing the correct location on my 2010 E90 CIC I-Drive sat nav. As you can see, it shows me in France however I am in UK!

I access the 'secret' menu within Settings to take a look at the GPS receiver and it shows "No GPS available". However when I drive the car, it seems to still track the car movement.

Also the longitude/latitude seem to have reset.

Has anyone experienced this before? I am unsure if its an issue with the receiver, or I-Drive needs a firmware update or map update?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Rory

Have you tried entering your location manually in the secret menu?

Is the CIC factory fitted or retro fitted?

Did you drive the car? Sometimes it takes movement for the triangulation to occur the the GPS to find your position.

Hi,

Yep - tried setting the location manually but no joy It's a factory fitted CIC and it has only stopped working correctly in the last 3 months.

Seems like a weird problem as it started to lose my location occasionally but would come back however after a while it completely lost my location and now I can't get it back.

Could it be a problem with hardware like the antenna?

Thanks,
Rory

Thanks for the link! I think I will get an antenna off ebay and give that a whirl. Not sure if its worth taking the CIC out as well if I am going to have to potentially replace the shark fin anyway. I found this one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E90-E9...7/161599886113 - Does this look right for a GPS antenna for an e90? Just want to make sure there are no hidden gotchas!

I went to a dealer yesterday and they said it would most likely be an issue with the CIC in terms on software/firmware needing an update as the antennas don't usually go wrong - is there any truth in this?
