Question Car Pricing Help

Hi guys, I lost my 2006 BMW 330xi during Hurricane Sandy and now I need to buy another car. I was looking at 2010-2011 3 series coupes and sedans, all automatic transmission. I've done a lot of research on these cars and know what's standard, LCI changes, etc, but I need help with determining a good price on these used cars. They are all CPO and I have the dealer asking price too.

Can you give me a good idea of how much is a good final price for these cars? I live in the tri state area too if that has any impact on price as well. I assume our cars here cost a bit more than they would in say, Oklahoma just cause of the cost of living differences, etc. Thanks for the help!

Yeah, cars here cost more in the tri state. I think the prices are okay for a CPO car. I've also been in the market and I'm also wondering what is a good price to go in at. I'm thinking since its the end of the year, dealers are probably trying to get rid of their stock. Would it be too much to offer 5k less than what they want?

Are you afraid they'll throw you out of the showroom if you offer too little?

If your first offer is accepted, you offered too much. Some might say if you haven't stormed out of the dealership at least once, you've left money on the table.

I can't comment on the listed cars, but recommend surveying all the other cars for sale in the region and compare pricing. That'll tell you if these are in line or above/below other comparables (matched for mileage/options/age, and factor in history, condition, and color). Then negotiate away.

Always lowball the dealer.

My 2010 335i sedan was a CPO originally listed at $35,995 with an 'Internet Discount' that brought it to $33,995. KBB had it listed at $35,983.

I ended up getting them down to $31,500. Car has almost every option you could put on it.

I originally offered them $29,500 for it and they kept going back and forth with me. They didn't dismiss my offer at all, they came back with a counter and so on.

How many miles did your car have when you purchased it? Just curious. If I can pay around what you did I'd be pretty happy.

wait for prestiges and possibly the other year end sales event where they dump their loaners. pretty decent prices were seen last year in december, they need to get room for the new loaners and get their year end numbers up, they 328s so if thats what your going for..

37k miles.

A bit higher than I wanted but the price for the options and the year was lower than any I could find. I was only finding 2009's w/ same miles at that price and this was a 2010.

It was a lease turn in with CPO. Closest I could find was one without nav with 30k miles for $33k and the dealer wouldn't budge. Everything else in 2010 with sports pkg and nav under 35k miles is $34k+ around here.
