2011 335i error
Today while I was just cruising my car threw a check engine light and 2 error codes (2C56 & 2C58). Does anyone know what would cause these to come up? Wasn't during WOT. Thanks in advance. My car is fbo and protuned on E50 (if that mattters).

Looks like Boost pressure too high & Boost pressure build-up blocked are what the codes are.

Bump for an old thread
This happened to me at wot. Car is a 2011 n55 recently flashed ppk. Only happened this arvo. Codes read and cleared. Will see if it happens again What are the usual culprits and cost of fix. The spreadsheet mentions wastegates and solanoids |

Make that x3. Have been having this BS for a while now. Replaced spark plugs, coils, had the walnut blasting done. This week the CP crapped out so put ER CP in and the same 2C56 and 2C58 light up. I can replicate this 100% of the time by going WOT in 3rd gear all the way through 5th. I can almost never get to 5th gear shifting at about 6,500RPM w/o going into the limp mode. I can definitely feel the car hesitating when going WOT, almost as if it is misfiring, but less severe. Can hear what sounds like turbo sound going "PSH PSH PSH" until I throw limp mode. I will be replacing both oxygen sensors this week to see if O2 sensors could have something to do with this. Car is 100% stock except the ER CP. Running 91 OCT pump gas.

Potential problem source(s):- Boost-pressure sensor is defective or has been tampered with- Electropneumatic pressure converter in wastegate valve is defective- Wastegate valve is defective I changed my cracked stock charge pipe to VRSF CP, and MAP sensor on the charge pipe. The code never appears again. But now I have 2C57 (half engine light when WOT around 80mph or above), which may be the pressure converter. I'm gonna change it next week to see what happens. BTW, if you wanna keep your out-of-warranty BMW for another couple of years, I suggest you invest an OBD reader for BMW. It can read and parse code in the DME (invisible to general OBD readers). |

Top potential culprits: 1. Cracked stock charge pipe (change it ASAP for God's sake, you never know when it will crack) 2. Bad MAP sensor, either on the charge pipe or on the intake manifold. 3. Bad high pressure fuel sensor on the end of the fuel rail (towards cockpit) 4. Bad HPFP (not common for N55) 5. Bad pneumatic pressure converter in wastegate valve 6. Bad wastgate/turbo (you dont wanna see this) Oh, bad bad bad.....this is the original flavor of an out-of-warranty BMW |

Faulty Codes 2C56, 2C58
Sorry to bring this post back up, but I am experiencing the same symptoms and getting the same codes. Did any of you figure out the solution? It would be nice to know and put this to rest for once.

Problem solved for 2c57
I had this 2c57 problem over just a month ago. Whenever I try to WOT or just go over 4k rpm, the car would switch over to limp mode and a CEL is displayed. So I rechecked all my connections from the charge pipe and the in/out of intercooler. It turns out that my Boost Solenoid valve was defective. My car now has over 85k miles. The part number for the Boost Solenoid is 11747626351. Very easy to replace. It's located on the passenger side of the engine just above the turbo next to the valve cover. DIY is less than 30 minutes. You'll have your boost back stronger in no time!
