? for the best detailers...

Hypothetically speaking, how would you deodorize a carpet if some drunken pranks got out of hand and someone ended up with diarrhea on their M3's carpet?

Remove the seats.
Remove carpet.
Steam clean both sides and use an enzyme that eats that bacteria. Something like Microban.

Bingo! The trick is to COMPLETELY remove ALL sources of odor. Hopefully it's limited to just one seat and one section of floor material. In addition to MicroBan another great product is Natures Miracle found at pet stores. Apply per bottle directions.

Oh and castrate the "source" of the odor!

gas can and a match once the carpet is removed and new one is purchased

remove seats
remove carpet kit
clean area under carpet VERY thoroughly
install new carpet kit

I wouldnt take on a job like that by the way. Its considered hazmat and I would charge over 2k for that job (mainly because I wouldnt want to do it, but if someone wanted to pay that amount, then it would be worth it to me)

Thanks for the tips. Just reading these replies makes me re-live the event and laugh my ass off. In a perfect world the carpet would get replaced, but this was really a small spot.
We tried that nature's miracle stuff and it seems to work pretty well after a few days. Will try to find something with microban too. As for hazmat... well yes, it is, but that's what makes it funny.

there's no way that friend will ever live that down. I know with my friends no one would ever let him forget it.

Well thats a crappy situation..

Friend of mine just had someone puke in backseat of M3... If that happened to me we would've also been cleaning their bloodstains out too
