chipping roof rails

the paint on my roof rails are chipping, looks disgusting. Whats the best option? oem replacement? paint? vinyl?

same here. thinking about painting them jet black to match.

my only question, if anyone knows, is can you remove the rails to paint them and then re-install them? Or do I have to cover and tape up the rest of my roof and car in order to paint them?

any help or advice is greatly appreciated

They remove quite easily. A small screwdriver may help to pry. They slide one way or another.
