E90 key fob dead. will not lock/unlock doors

sorry, i know there's a lot of topics like this but can't find an answer, my remote seems like dead, i have to enter my car using the key manually and all the doors lock and unlock perfectly with the key but not with the remote, then the car starts just fine when i put it in the slot, (i don't have confort access so it doesn't have batteries) also the button in the dash works fine, and i already check the fuses and they are ok
any ideas? thanx

I believe when you put the fob in the ignition and start the car, it charges the batteries. Drive around for a while or let it sit and run and your fob should charge up enough to unlock the doors and whatnot.

is there a way to reprogram it like it was with the E46?
something like this...
turn key to position 1 five times, remove key, hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button

Not that I know of. You shouldn't need to reprogram it though. Unless you have a different fob all you need to do is recharge the battery inside by having it in the ignition and running the car. I don't know how long it takes, but I drove around for about 20 mins or so and it charged. This is what I had to do when I received my extra key from the dealer.

i had the same problem with my fob, although i have comfort access it still did not want to open the door by touch or even by the buttons, it would only lock the doors until it just died and wouldnt do anything beyond start the car once i was inside.

BMW said that the fobs randomly die and that was the only explanation they gave me, currently im just using my spare that i have which works fine.

That sucks. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help. I don't have much knowledge with the keys. Just what I've gone through with them. Good luck

This happend to my Key fob last month. I have comfort access. There are lot of discussions whether fob's battery is rechargeable or not. Mine definitely didnt recharge, so I replaced the battery and its working fine since then.

fobs with Confort access are not rechargeable and these have batteries
fobs without Confort access ARE rechargeable (supposedly) and these don't use batteries

However, it sounds like OP has issues other than battery. Bring it in...

Comfort Access = Replaceable battery. Putting it in the slot only downloads vehicle data to fob for maintenance. Replacing the battery (2032) is explained in the manual and rather simple.

No Comfort Access = Rechargeable battery. Putting it in the slot recharges the battery and downloads vehicle data.

There is a DIY for replacing the rechargeable battery on another forum but it was for the E46. From what I've seen it might be the same process.

Pry it open, unsolder the battery leads, insert replacement, resolder leads, reglue case, reprogram fob

Replacement on Amazon for E9x

If the fob doesn't work and it costs $200-ish for a new one, it might be worth a $10 experiment.

mmm... maybe it could be a solution but if i open the fob i'm pretty sure it won't be nice anymore, there's gonna be little marks all over the fob

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. No CA. Brought it in , and was told sometimes these keys just stop working. However, they will start the car. My dealership ordered me a new key. I'm currently waiting for them to call me so I could bring it in so they could program it. They said it will take around 1-2 hours to program. I will now have 2 Working remote's, and 1 hard key for the doors.
