2010 maxima vs 2010 G37

Can somebody settle this for me ? A friend of mine insist that his 2010 Maxima with 290 hp can take on the new G37. Although he has not encounter a G37 next to him, but insist on it because he feels that the car is just so quick. Please feel free to comment.

On paper the G37 has a slight edge in 0-60. It runs 5.7 compared to a 5.9 for the Maxima. The Maxima is surprisingly 200lbs lighter coming in at 3540 compared to 3760 for the G37. Could come down to drivers but I believe the G37 to edge it out.

They're only the same car if the Maxima is in reverse. Maxima will still be fwd at the end of the race, so even if it somehow ends up being faster, it still loses.

Is he an idiot? For starters the Maxima is stuck with a CVT and FWD, not to mention a 40bhp deficit and inferior rubber all around, both in size and compound. Sure it might weigh ~200lbs less, but the former completely outweighs the latter.

Just look at these 1/4 mile times I quoted from Insideline. Despite the fact that they're taken from two different testing days, the differences are so damn huge that your friend has to be crazy to think he would stand a chance from a roll or a dig.

G37S...................................13.8 @ 101.4
Maxima 3.5 SV Sport..............14.5 @ 95.9

That's nearly a full second and more than 5mph difference. Not a driver's race at all. And I've seen better 1/4 times for G37s.

Tell your friend he should stick to picking on Civic Si's, Altimas, Malibus and Accord V6s.

Here's my acceleration chart:

0-60 - 5.4
1/4 mile - 13.94 @ 102

These numbers were on a green engine as well...

My brother 2010 g37s is fast. It feel heavy but very fast compare to the maxima. To me there is no way the maxima can win.
Oh yeah the GTR is the same as g37s coupe . lmao...

The G37 will win unless its driver sucks. If you try taking it around a corner, the G37 will kill it.
