Everyone was between MSPR and $500 below and wanted a deposit between $1 and $2K. Then I called a dealer a bit out of the way, but a couple friends had gone through them and they came back with the $1K under and 0 deposit, so it was a no-brainer.

First Post here, been lurking since I ordered on 8/1. My 08' E93 is due to arrive in CA on 10/9 and should be up to me by 19th at the latest. I just finalized negotiations and got $1200 under MSRP for a fully loaded (everything but Sirius and Active Cruise) Platinum Bronze 335i. It is on the Graceful Leader and I can't wait to get it!

I'm sure you'll find it well worth the wait. I've been happy with my 2004 330 convertible for several years now and probably could have held out even longer, but a friend of mine leased a 2007 335 E93 and after a few rides and drives around town, I finally broke down the last week of August. I'm just hoping for a delivery before Thanksgiving so I can drive it up to my family's place in Las Vegas for the holiday. The one thing I have going for me is that my dealer is literally less than 25 miles from Port Hueneme so I'm hoping transit time after arrival in the US will be low.

The fact I live in an atypical location for convertibles must have helped me, because although I bought ED, my CA said he would do $1500.00 over INVOICE no matter if it was regular delivery invoice or ED invoice. Maco of 220.00 and training of180.00 would apply to the domestic, but still alot cheaper than 1000.00 or 1200.00 under MSRP. I guess you'll have to move to crappier weather or something.

Nah, I think I'll stay where I can drive with the top down every day of the year (I have family in the midwest that hate when they call and I'm on my way somewhere with the top down in January)... it started raining early this year though - September 21 was the first rain of the season, but we still got 5 months without a drop.

I think you're on to something though and I also think SoCal just has some of the highest demand for BMWs of any area in the country - don't get me wrong, I know the northeast has quite a few as well, but I've heard on a couple occasions that even when it comes to resale, you can usually get a premium here that you wouldn't get elsewhere. But I love the car so much I would have paid sticker. Don't tell my CA.

I hear you on the weather front, but I have the top dropped alot of the time. At 55 degrees and up, the top is down, the heated seats are on, the heat is set at 75 and aimed at my feet, and life is good.

LOL - when it gets down to 55 degrees here, everyone puts on their wool coats and scarfs and you hear teeth chattering. I can appreciate the humor in this because I grew up in the midwest and spent several years in NYC.

I'm with you though - unfortuantely my girlfriend isn't... I'm happy blasting through the 58 degree winter morning fog on Pacific Coast Highway with the heat turned up, but she turns blue (she's a SoCal native, so see above). I've heard that the 335 convertibles actually have less wind turbulance than the 330s at higher speeds, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can make her see the light with the new car.

It's funny, I currently have a 2002 330Ci convertible, so if the 335 has less turbulance, I may have to test 45 degrees. :rocks:

I'm picking up mine next week. I got $750 off MSRP and that's it. These cars are too hot.

Congrats on the soon to be new arrival. Mine was just released from production today, now awaiting shipping... I agree though, demand is higher than supply on these. Also, as much as I love saving money when I can, I'd rather just have the car in production than haggle over another $250.

That's probably it, but hopefully your CA is just being really conservative so that you aren't disappointed. Mine is telling me that he can't promise it will be in before Thanksgiving, but that's almost 2 months away and my car is at the port in Germany. Transit time is less than 4 weeks to the west coast, and my dealer is within 30 miles of Port Hueneme where my car will be offloaded in the US, so I feel my CA is definitely being overly cautious.

How long has it been since you lived here? One of my favorite bar/restaurants is at 10th and Montana, so I know your area. I live in the college streets b/t Santa Monica and Wilshire.

You're lucky with the piano black trim - seems to be really popular on these forums and you can't (easily) get it in the US for whatever reason. What are the rest of the specs on your new car?

I moved back here almost 4 years now. I been living in Santa Monica since 1978 im now 33...love that place would never choose anywhere else if I stayed in the US.
I know which bar you are refering to only went there once..used to get my hair cut at that barber shop next door
I didnt get any options since they were so dam expensive here and I really didnt need them. I checked out the US BMW E92 catalog and compared it with the options that we have here in Taiwan and it seems like our base model here comes with more standard options than the cars from the US...maybe because the car prices are much higher than the US?
I paid 94K for my E93 325i in Taiwan.

Comfort access was 1K, Idrive is $3900, Msport package is $2800. I didnt see the cruise control option with the distance thingy and some other ones that wasnt on the list so I am hoping they are standard and will come with the car Before I ordered the car they didnt have the price for the 2008 models so they quoted me a 2007 model price...I would have to put a deposit down first and once the car arrives or if they found out the new 2008 price they would make changes to the price depending if it increased or not. I didnt like that idea so luckily my brother in law knew one of the top management guys at BMW finance department and I ended up getting the car at $3250 below MSRP.

No the Destination Charge of $775 has to be added to the invoice of the car itself. It doesn't matter if it's ED or US delivery.
