I dropped my car off this morning, service rep was an ass. barely acknowledged me, I asked him to change the spark plugs as well since it would save me trip back next month. Manual says it should be done at 60k and I'm at 57,300. His response was: "where did you read that?". According to the read out he was getting it says it's fine for another 9k and won't do it.. he's was very sarcastic in his tone.
I e-mailed BMW Canada about this, waiting for their response. |

Meaning to do my appointment soon, but a friend from work got his done on his 328i after the bolts apparently failed on him. All is good with his car now and they had him in and out in the same day.

Mine's at the dealer right now. They were extremely cool to me. I didn't realize this but they remove the whole DME box to do the recall. I took the wiring harness off of my JB4 but I left the JB4 control unit inside the DME box. They pointed that out to me but were really cool about it. So make you guys take the whole JB4 out before you drop it off at the dealer. The service tech showed me the bolts that he replaced though. They are keyed to avoid tampering. Just found that to be interesting.

I'm still under the warranty so I'm having them do a bunch of other stuff too. I'm sure if it was just the recall they wouldn't say anything.

Wow you're really brave! Not because of warranty reasons but the fact that it'll suck if someone steals it.

Are people getting the recall done having left their JB4 and DPs on the car? I am a tune and DPs and not sure if I should take them off before trying to get this recall done.

My warranty ends on 12/31, so I am thinking of just leaving the JB4 in. Then again, it isn't working right and I need to contact Burger yet again and see if he will finally replace it.

I didn't drive far enough for the engine light to come on. But my adviser knows I have a downpipe anyways. He actually recommended that I get one.

Does this look right?
Just got my car back, not going to get into the backstory that makes me want some corroboration but does this look right? An SIB is noted even though it states I requested the recall and the notation for the recall is B11 08 14. which doesnt appear to have anything to do with this issue. Anyone thoughts? I have this almost sinking feeling that nothing may have actually been done.
Sorry having trouble attaching the printout, it should open from the link Last edited by Jec1; 10-14-2014 at 05:16 PM.. |

DESCRIPTION OF REPAIR Your BMW center will replace the four VANOS housing bolts for each of the two VANOS units (intake and exhaust). In addition, owners of approximately 170,172 model year 2010-2012 BMW models equipped with inline 6 cylinder engines not covered by this recall will receive an extended warranty to address this condition. I just got my car scheduled for this Monday for the recall and some other stuff to be done so I'll report back if the paperwork is any different or is the same. |

I got my recall letter back in June. They said they would call when they had sufficient parts available. But I called yesterday and they said I could come in Monday. I will post results next week.

Please do, I've had my ups and downs with this dealer... Given the nature of past interaction and the notations on my service sheet I just have this weird vibe someone may have been directed to give me the big old "f u" and to do nothing to my car. Last edited by Jec1; 10-14-2014 at 05:16 PM.. |

Anyone having their spark plugs replaced at the same time? What is a reasonable amount of labor to pay for this since the valve cover has to cover off anyway to do this recall?
